its amazing for your tube amp, just an really good tube overdrive without your ears bleeding. Its also really cool for my old transistor amp from the 70s its an amazing punk tone when you put every knob on 11 ;)

the only thing is that you lose a bit of high, that is a bit annoyning

I own 2 of these. They're okay.
Nickname is Nick Name 16.01.2024
I have two of these, and I'm currently using them in two different set-ups. The first is through my Marshall DSL40, between the 'head' and the Creamback I installed. It definitely works, and lets me push the amp, but keep it quiet. BUT...for some reason when I'm using it, the Marshall 6-switch footswitch acts up and sometimes loses power for a moment. Fine for at home, but I'd never want that to happen at a show.

My other one is set up between a Peavey VK100 and a cabinet with two V30's. Again, this allows me to drive the head, but keep it at a reasonable volume for practice. No issues here, but you can definitely hear the attenuator's fan working overtime on this amp. I was surprised that I could hear it.

An OK fix for a master volume
Melkku 08.02.2024
This piece of kit is a pretty good value for money and built quite nicely but I used it with my sv20h and it sounded quite horrible. I would recommend looking for a reactive load type attenuator for example the iron man 2 mini since it is definitely worth the price.

Good enough if you're looking for a cheap attenuator.

Attenuates more than the volume
sixstringslinger 08.08.2020
For the price I wasn't looking for an amazing sounding attenuator, but I was pleasantly surprised.

Starting with the Pros:
- Inexpensive,
- Not impedance specific as other models are. The attenuator has 4, 8 & 16 ohm inputs.
- Sounds good

Cons:
- It attenuates the lows of an amp quite a bit, which could be a good thing if you have an overly boomy amplifier.
- It is a little brighter than the unattenuated sound of the amplifier.
- When the attenuator is turned all the way up, it's not nearly as loud as the unattenuated volume and there is no bypass switch to switch to full output.

I have not used and don't foresee a need for me to use the direct out option so I cannot attest to the effectiveness or sound quality of that part of the device.

All in all, It's a great solution to bring the volume of your amp down to bedroom volumes for practice, but I'm still on the fence as to whether or not this attenuator is gigable.

It’s an attenuator, don’t rely on the speaker sim
Press K 09.07.2021
Solid build and works as intended. I wouldn’t rely on it as a loadbox without a speaker as it bleeds some sound when set at minimum.

I think it colors my sound a bit — not sure if it’s because of the loadbox or because I can crank the tubes more. But the sound gets dark and muddy. I try to attenuate as little as possible because of that.

The speaker sim option is bad. Still better than direct output, so I guess it can work when you have absolutely no other options. I’m using an old Behringer Ultra G DI box — the speaker sim there is better.

Does the job
MisterTeevee 25.09.2020
Good attenuator for a sensible price which does the job of taming big amps in a home setting. Does the job without fuss. Instructions aren't totally clear (but there's plenty videos online to help). Main volume knob is a little flimsy (came loose quite quickly) but easily sorted with a small screwdriver. Hard to get excited about a box that turns your amp down but your ears (and your neighbours) will thank you. Means you really can get that pre-amp drive sound without blowing out your windows. The fact it's totally passive (no power supply needed) is also a good thing.

A good starter! or something for the casual player, but would give it a miss for recording
Tyla-Joe 07.01.2021
unit is quite well built, doesn't feel like it's going to break anytime soon.

does it job but kills a lot of the high end, which is expected of passive attenuators.

but the unit seems to make the guitar tone sound super brittle from the line out ran into a cab sim, the emulated line out is pretty poor too..

but i must give credit where it's due, does exactly as advertised, and for maybe bedroom playing or with a band, you can't go wrong.

Good for the price, but...
Dog of Man 08.06.2022
It's a good power soak if you want to have a DI after the amp to capture the post-power amp goodness. The sound produced by the speaker after going through the PA-100 is... acceptable, but I would advise against getting this if you want to record the cab. For practice purposes it will do.

The line out on mine does not work properly. Turning the Line Level knob produces no result whatsoever. Turning the speaker level knob however, adjusts both the line level and the speaker level. I suspect this is not the case for everyone, since no other reviews I've seen mention it.

It attenuates power........ so...Yeah,
RiffMonkey 02.01.2021
I bought this so I could use mt Peavey 5150 MKII at bedroom levels as the amp is know for being an utter beast. Seriously, I have the volume on 2 for band practices :D

This gadget works a treat, i can now run the amp volume at 5 to get all that lovely power stage break up without blowing myself through the wall and being murdered by my neighbours.

I has many function I haven't used yet, but i like its sturdy build quality and the feel of the rotary controls.
