Bought it to power up my backup pedalboard and I didn’t want to spend a lot of money for a power supply that will only work in the case of emergency. On my primary pedalboard all my stompboxes are powered by a t-rex fuel tank classic which is almost the same product with the Harley Benton.
I’m not going to compare the 2 products as it is the day with night in terms of built quality etc, however the most annoying thing with the powerplant apart from the bad quality of the cables included is a hum noise going through my signal chain most likely due to no isolation of every power port. As soon as I replaced it with the truetone CS7 all the hum was gone.
Again at this price point I did not had any high expectations, but spending some more cash There are better options out there.

Sturdy... but noisy
Lily Rose 30.11.2021
This definitely can take a few hits and is build like a big blue brick - however I got this included in a harley benton pedalboard bundle and im wishing I just bought an isolated power supply separately. Its just way too noisy for a live setting - better buying the ISO-1 by Harley Benton for about the same price, which Ive had to do anyway to replace this

Nice cheap power plant

With that power plant you'll get what you pay for. A cheap and noisy power plant to play with but not suited for professional use.

Decent but potentially noisy
Michael9841 21.01.2016
Works as described and hard to beat for the price. However, some pedals (especially digital ones) are very sensitive to power issues and you end up with noise. With my Strymon Deco I get a very high pitch squeal with the PowerPlant that does not happen with the Voodoo Lab power supply. However, most of my normal analog pedals (e.g., Boss or MXR) work fine with no noise issues. Therefore, this is good for someone on a budget without finicky pedals, but I would not recommend it if you're trying to power something like a Strymon or any other digital pedal.

Noisy but works
Anonymous 25.01.2015
From the reviews I knew this would probably add some noise to the signal and it does. Even when just plugged in to the same power strip as my amp with no pedals connected my amp picked up a considerable 60 cycle hum. My practice room is generally electrically noisy so this wasn't a surprise. Tried running my overdrive pedals upfront and my modulation pedals through the effects loop but this was impossible due to the added noise. Running everything up front is tolerable on my amps clean setting, but worse on the more over driven settings. But it powers the pedals as advertized, seems well built so its as I expected.

If you're on a budget then go for it
James N. 11.03.2015
Otherwise, if you can afford it, buy a more expensive power supply. This is effectively a daisy chain in a box compared to better quality isolated output power supplies. I used this to power a medium sized board that included a DD20 and Hardwire Reverb as my 2 most power hungry pedals. Even with the two pedals removed from the power supply I still experienced a lot of hum and noise which is fine for the home musician but when it came to recording and gigging it was undesirable.

PowerPlant
TerryR 15.05.2013
Most of the basic components in this power supply seem of good quality but in typical Chinese fashion it falls down on the assembly. The soldering is a bit rough in places. The case is made from quite thin low quality steel just held together with tack welds at the corneers and has started to rust under the low quality paint job. It appears to have a voltage selection through a covered switch, but the switch in fact is not connected to anything. That said it is about the cheapest multi-output supply (non-isolated outputs) you can buy for effect pedals and so far it has worked just fine on my pedal board. Like all Thomann electrical products it is supplied with a continental two pin mains lead. I don't know why they can't organise 3 pin leads for their UK customers.

Very noisy
DanielPicon 13.03.2023
I sold this so I could buy a more superior isolated one to minimise the noise buildup. I’d say definitely go straight for that option and don’t consider this even as an entry level, the noise is not worth it.

Excellent value

This power plant is super cheap and delivers tons of power.
It is not outputs are not isolated howeder (but what do you expected at this price) so do expect alot of hum when using it to power some gain pedals as well as modulation and digital effects.
