They work
røde2nowhere 24.06.2020
These were bought to use with a Harley Benton ST-20 BK Standard Series. The expectation was that they would be a simple installation, and I supposed that even if the screws that came with it weren't suitable, perhaps we could just use the old screws. However...

The screws that came with these strap locks are smaller, and shorter than the existing ones. And the old screws have bigger heads, which don't fit these strap lock buttons, so weren't usable.

Regardless, they look good, and are a nice upgrade for the cheapest HB guitar. For the price, there isn't much to complain about.

Pros:
- Low cost
- simple operation
- feel secure

Cons:
- supplied screws are slightly smaller than the existing ones, but that will depend on the model of guitar

Overall, I think these are good strap locks for the money. And if you have a €79 guitar, and paying €20+ for strap locks just doesn't seem to make sense, then value is probably the most important consideration.

D
An excellent guitar strap safety system
Domenicaccio 29.11.2021
The guitar strap security locks by Harley Benton is an inexpensive but excellent solution to stop worrying about dropping your guitar or bass if your strap belt detaches.

I previously had a more expensive famous brand locks mounted on my guitar, but I lost the strap belt, and with it the actual parts of the locks attached to it. I decided to give the cheaper Harley Benton locks a try, and I did not notice any difference with the more expensive brand ones. In addition, I was pleasantly surprised that the Harley Benton locks were perfectly compatible with the guitar-side parts of the locks of the more famous brand which I still had screwed to the guitar body, so I didn't need to replace them, and could use the new ones for a second guitar.

I have been using these Harley Benton security strap locks for over half a year now, and they never failed, so I feel confident enough to recommend them. Mounting them was fairly easy, although I had to very slightly cut (maybe 1mm) the leather around the upper hole in my strap belt to be able to tighten the lock properly. Once mounted, they can be attached/removed pretty much on the fly, and while they aren't perfectly noiseless, the clicking sound is very minimal.

Overall, thoroughly recommended, and looking forward to add these to more guitars and basses in the future: 5/5

Works great, just as good at “the other” strap locks
Jazz.man 19.02.2022
I have used the fender Grolsch style strap “locks” for a while on my bass, but with the purchase of a guitar (harley benton te-20), I wanted to use my favorite strap with both. The rubber Grolsch style ones keep your strap on but are a pain in the butt to take off.

I bought 2 sets of these, one in chrome and one in black. They both work perfectly together.

I trust my instruments with these. Installation was easy. On my bass (Harley Benton PB-20), I used the screws that came with the strap locks, and on my guitar (Harley Benton TE-20), I reused the screws from the guitar.

You can get 2 sets of these for the price of on set of “the other brand’s) replacement buttons (not even with the strap attachments! what the heck)

Overall, i am super impressed with thomann’s ability to make amazing products at prices the average musician can afford.

p.s. - I put this review on the black and the chrome strap locks, just thought i would put this here.

Best strap-locks for the price.
Maria Mendes 08.04.2024
Every time I buy a guitar from Thomann, I make sure to also order a set of these fine strap-locks. So far, I have tested and use the chrome and black-color versions and they do their job right. Perfect fit and good looks for any guitar !
Thank you Thomann.

Looks and feels good, but could be better.
Arturo B. Martín 08.04.2022
I needed security locks on my guitar so I bought these ones. I'm happy with them, but I feel they aren't as solid and safe as I think. I haven't had any accidents so far but the feeling is there.

I recommend them unless you want to invest more to have better ones.

Totally happy
io74 13.04.2023
Having previously bought the black version (for another guitar) and being happy with those, this time went for chrome, purely for color matching reasons.

Their only downside: as I use a very thick leather strap, it was a bit of a challenge to put it between 2 washers and then hook on the first thread when screwing the nut. So, if the shaft were 1mm longer would have been much handier to install. But you only install them once. And once installed -- the click-clacking -- to attach/detach the strap is smooth and easy, once attached the grip is firm.

Bottom line: totally happy for my purposes and feels very secure (mind you i don't jump of the stage, i don't propel the guitar they used to do in the 80s, i just gig in my living room).

Awesome

I have other instruments with more expensive strap lock systems, after trying this I can tell you that you don't need the expensive stuff, this works just as well. It does what is supposed to do 100%, feels solid and well build.

You need these (you just don't know it yet)
klemi007 18.08.2022
You don't need these, if you only play sitting down.

If you do play standing up, you will want some kind of strap lock system, and as they go, this one works just fine (so far) and the low price means that you can get multiple pairs and install them on all guitars/basses.

Even if you have a cheap guitar and you drop it because your guitar detached from strap, any sort of repair will probably cost you more than a pair (or more) of these would cost you. So think of them as necessary ease of life and money saving accessory.

Highly recommended for all guitarist and bassists age 2-129.

Started using the Schaller straplocks years ago, when i saw these i swapped over because of the price. They work just as good and are on all my guitars.
+) Very reliable. In all those years i've been using them, only 1 broke on me (after taking a beating for 2-3 years): The pin that locks both pieces into eachother fell out, so it could still hold my guitar up fine, but no longer locked the connection.
Another + is that they are interchangeable with Schaller straplocks, so if you're already using the Schaller ones, but looking to get some cheaper alternative for new guitars, your straps will lock in with no problems.

Cheap insurance for your guitar
emcgon 03.10.2018
Since my guitar had an accident followed by an expensive visit to a luthier, strap-locks are a must on all of my guitars. These are copies of the much more expensive Schaller ones that look almost identical.
They are not, however, interchangeable: the sizes are sufficiently different that the strap fitting from this set won't fit a Schaller pin.

My feeling is that they are a bit "chunkier" than the Schaller version: the washer and retaining nut both seem a little thicker and the fittings seems a little bulkier but this is by no means a problem.

You will need a wrench to pinch the nut snugly against the guitar strap. A vice is also handy. Having lost a few of the nuts when they came loose (which can end in disaster), I also like to put a bit of thread-locking compound on the strap fitting to encourage the nut to stay in place. This has worked well.

All in all, these are well made, easy to fit and are remarkable value for money.
