I was very excited to get this guitar, as a huge Prince fan it's very cool to have a pretty close replica to his Madcat. The sound is great, it feels great in the hands. It's very heavy, but not ridiculous. The neck is incredibly thick, which I thought would be something I hate, but I find myself not minding. Overall the guitar sounds and looks great. For $200~ with shipping, this is a great deal.
However, onto the bad. It sort of feels like I got one of the B stock models. There are several blemishes on my brand new guitar and that is extremely disappointing.
There is a large nick in the pickguard near the neck pickup, the volume and tone posts are bent, there is a gash on the top of the headstock, there is a clear knot in the neck, there is a 15-20mm crack in the pocket of the bottom horn where the neck meets the body, right above that there is a large scratch in the binding. This is really disappointing, especially the crack.
From afar it looks great, but it feels like every time I pick it up I find a new blemish. If this is the regular stock, I'd hate to see how bad the B-Stock models are. It also makes me a bit hesitant to buy from Thomann again if the quality control is this low. Which kinda sucks, because there were a few other models I definitely had my eye on which I had planned on grabbing if this one worked out.
Overall, it's a beautiful guitar, plays, and sounds great. Just be ready for the possibility it arrives pretty beat up right out of the box. For $200 it's not the worst trade-off in the world, I suppose. An inexpensive beautiful great sounding guitar, with poor QC. Which kinda stinks, since QC is one of the easier things in the process to fix.
Edit : Just picked it up and found another crack where the body meets the neck, this one splits off into two separate cracks. So basically the entire neck pocket is cracked on both sides.
