Packs a punch!
Stew Dawg 19.01.2021
I've been using Hartke products for years and the company has never let me down. This practice amp has quite a bit of power for being so small. I really have to play it on the lowest volume setting in my apartment so I don't drive my neighbors mad.

The sound particularly shines if you like to slap. However, you can still get it to produce some rich warm tones. This is probably due to their mix of aluminum and paper speakers.

The settings are easy to adjust. Some people may want to have more options, but I generally think less is more.

Overall, this is a solid practice amp that doesn't disappoint.

The only major concern I have is that is appears to be made in China instead of the USA. I know some bassists who claim that the quality of Hartke's products has suffered as a result. In my case, I have had not major issues with this amp. I suppose the cumulative result of the reviews here is a good measure of overall product quality.

Great Amp
marvinthemartian 17.07.2020
Since I live in an apartment, I didn't have a practice amp for years. However, I decided that it was time to buy one, because I got tired of practicing with my headphones on. I was looking for a simple and affordable amp. After all, how much money would you spend on something that you'll be using exclusively at home?

I play mostly a 5-string bass and I'm in a band where I use the lowest string a lot, because there are downtuned guitars. I'm happy to say that this amp produces a very clear sound when playing on the B string. It also sounds louder than expected, which isn't a bad thing. The EQ seems to be pretty good, and the whole thing looks and feels well-built.

Back in the day I had an Orange Crush 25 bass amp and I have to say that the Hartke sounds so much better. And it's almost half the price of the Orange! I would recommend the HD25 to anyone looking for a solid practice amp.

Sensacional e por um preço ótimo
csalves 07.02.2020

Great little amp
johnny-cash 03.01.2021
I love this HD25 which I purchased from Thomann, I use it for practicing, recording and playing in church as our meeting room is not so large it can handle the volume needed. It is surprisingly powerful for a small amp, it is heavy but is not really light either which would suggest to me it is well made and it certainly seems to be, I love the sound of the half paper half aluminium speaker cone, you can easily get some of those nice Victor Wooten style tones from this amp, I also have a previous generation Peavey Max 115 and I way prefer the sound of this amp, obviously it can't hold up again the 300W Peavey but just the tone that this amp produces is much more desirable to the ear, my bass is an old Yamaha BB1024X VW with a P/J pickup setup. I would definitely recommend getting this amp and it can even be used live once there's no drums and once the room is small it is able to cope. But I love the tone and would consider selling my MAX115 in order to buy a bigger Hartke amp with the HYDrive speakers.

Just fine as a practice amp
Cillian_ire 15.01.2021
This amp is just fine as a practice amp for the living room / home office.

Pros:
- It's a nice tone for the size.
- Phones input is always nice for practicing with others in the house

Cons
- There is a noticeable hiss when any treble is introduced over 5. This is even more noticeable on an active pick up than a passive.
- Sound shaping a little limited. I've tested on a passive and active pick up basses. Get an eq pedal for more fun.

Extremely playable home bass amp
Jakub Soukup 03.11.2018
I use this amp at home with passive Cort Action Bass V. It is loud enough to play. Bass is very soft, does not need preamp to practice. Usually it is not louder than on level 3 :) There's no need to use anything louder.
Previously I had EBS Classic Session 120 and with this one soundwisely I am as happy as I was then.

Hartke is not needs to comments) This combo is ideally for a home practice. The sound is very dense and rich, power is normal for not large room. I recommend it for buying.

A
Fantastic bass amp
Anonymous 19.12.2015
A fantastic value for money bass combo amp!

The built quality is superb, and has a spot-on sound, with excellent tone characteristics for it's size and price range.

It is fairly lightweight with a relatively compact size, which makes it easily transportable.

Definitely an excellent bass combo amp choice!

Works great with both cello and guitar
MarPan 05.08.2023
Bought it primarily as an amp for electric cello, and it works quite well. Cello is low quality Harley Benton product and sound is not as full and rich as acoustic cello, but it is very close. Built in EQ helps to get it closer to what the cellist had in mind.

I also tested it with nylon stringed acoustic guitar. With default settings the lows were way too much and booming, which is kinda expected from a bass amp. But after fiddling with EQ in amp and in the guitar, the sound turned out okay, so in a pinch this could also be used as an amp for a regular guitar.

Disclaimer: I'm not a professional musician.

Good bedroom amp

Nice and aggressive tone for the bass. Tried also with a guitar and also not too bad. enough power to practice on your own but not with the band. Runs nicely with the pedals i have tried.
Would recommend!
