IK Multimedia iLoud Micro Monitor

I primarily use them for producing and mixing my own music.

Ilouds are great overall, but when playing bass heavy music the bass port starts making noises.

I've been reading a lot of great reviews about these, so I was very excited to buy them. I've been expecting them to be perfect for my home studio setup (untreated room). The shipment came three days ago, and after listening to them for a couple days I found only one thing that bother me. When I listen to hip-hop or any other bass heavy music the bass port makes noises. Idk maybe I'm cranking the volume too much. But other than that everything is excellent. They don't shake my neighbors' walls and I can get the job done and enjoy some music. By the way, they can go really loud, to the point where I can imagine that I'm listening to 5-inch speakers if I close my eyes. Also, bluetooth is an amazing feature and works seemlessly!

Overall 4/5, just cuz of that bass port issue.

These things are impressive.
I'm a professional sound engineer and I was amazed at how good these sound. I haven't tried it yet, but I'm pretty sure that I could pull off a good mix with only these and some good headphones. They are really impressive.
I've even been using them as a stereo in our apartment.
It is just amazing how well they fill the room.
The bass goes down much further than you'd expect and it's not just boomy lows, no it's getting into the big speaker/sub range. Crazy impressive.

The only reason I'm not giving them five stars is because the woofers of mine stopped working all of a sudden and I'm waiting for a replacement pair.
But honestly, for the price, I'll probably buy another pair for the living room, just so that I can have a spare set.

This is a great NFM for home studio.
Sound - great in it's class - good sound stage, neutral sound and low freq. better then expected. There are only two issues: a bit of a hum while playing from bluethoof and problems with bass reflex port sound - around 60-55Hz (however the later problem is only hearable during tests - no problem during normal listining).
Enclosure - I own now second set of these speakers and both have the same problem (however this time is not so eminent) - the plastic enclosure is getting appart especially on the top. It's really a bummer. You can live with it but it should not happen in a qualty product.

Love those speakers, great for PC user and for music creation on the go or small work spaces but with big sound.

Only small cons is that some music can overload amps and than speakers turn on red led to show that you need to lower volume little.
But that is only case with max load, when You forget that this speakers are not full size speakers.

Music quality in front of them is fantastic.

Also for next version give us more power and standard connectors for normal speaker cable on right unit. Cable that interconnect speakers are to hard for place speakers near wall.

IK Tnx for those little gems, and make them even better and powerful.

You will not start a (half) pro home studio with this.
But, you will start understanding what you will need to have good music in a home studio setting. It's entry level, but you enter at a good point.

I find these monitors excellent price/value. A set of features for this price is probably unparalleled.

I am normally not a big IK MM fan, and this has not changed once I tried this. What I know though, is that sound is great, you can use your interface or connect via bluetooth. You can use it for checking your mix or to casually listen to music in a decent sized room.

Can it get loud? hell yeah it can
Is it clear and crisp? It is
Is Genelec better? sure if you have the cash for it

Negative: the bluetooth connection is noisy. Not always, but it tends to "whine" constantly until you either 1) move away your device (phone/tablet) 2) move around the room.
I think it's a design flaw as I read about this from others too. I will try and see if I can replace the power supply to an ungrounded one - it may or may not help.
