Got it to record electric drums with, works perfectly
Sycsa 11.04.2020
Using it to record my Roland TD-1 DMK, it works like a breeze and sounds great. Just connect it to my iPhone, shoot a video like normal and it records both the backing track and the drums. Recording covers has never been this easy.

To make this setup work, I also ordered the following:
- Y splitter, 3.5 mm Stereo male to 2x 3.5 mm stereo female, connected to drum module, one for the headphones, other one for the iRig.
- 2x double sided 3.5 mm stereo jack (one to connect Laptop with backing track to drum module, other one to connect iRig to drum module).
- adapter, 6. 35 mm jack male stereo to 3.5 mm jack female stereo (to connect the above cable to iRig).
- also make sure that all the cables are stereo. Got a mono cable in there at the beginning and the sound would only come out of one earbud.

Adding a little gain on the iRig so the sound comes out louder and upload directly from phone to YouTube. That's it.

Amazing for its portability and the bag of features it offers.
The app is really good, thought some features may be kind of pricey in comparison to what they offer.
It delivers everything you have every wished for regarding a mobile audio interface platform, recording, pedals, amps, cabs, fiddling with eq, everything.

So, what's wrong with it? What are the cons?
Well, I was surprised by the quality of the clean tone, really satisfied by it. Could get some decent SRV like tones out of it. The boost/gain effects were somewhat off putting, and the distortion... unusable, in my opinion.

Good for a portable interface
DragoLago 25.02.2023
It connects to a variety of DAWs with ease.

I tried it with Garageband and Logic pro with no noticeable issues. I was also able to connect it to my iPad for practice sessions on the go with ease. However the version of Amplitube that it ships with leaves a lot to be desired especially on bass guitar. The sound quality when recording bass is ok but nothing to write home about. Monitoring was quick and i was not able to detect lag from processing the bass to the in ear monitors with the fx loop switched off.

Keep in mind that it's not able to drive high impedance headphones properly however IEMs work just fine.

Awesome entrance to the guitar sound
Tural Takhmazov 25.04.2023
What I really like about this product is it's simplicity and tricks you can do with it. It has own ASIO driver. You also can work with ASIO4All if you want, but I ussually stick with native driver.

Pros:
- simplicity - in-audio jack, output for headphones and guitar amp (if you want to make some noise);
- form-factor - it is really small so you can take it with you everywhere you want;
- apps for iOS and Android are simple and versatile. You can achieve different tones;
- you can use it as simple audio-card for your PC and Mac;
- Amplitube is amazing tool;
- 24 bit / 96 kHz is more than you need if you want to achieve good sound.

Cons:
- the assembly is a little weak, parts constantly shakes and sound weird, but do not affect on your guitar tone;
- has a bit latency, but it depends on the build of your PC;
- if you use it on your iPhone or iPad you need wired headphones. You cannot send audio signal through wireless headphones, only trough iRig;
- same is for PC. It can be solved by using ASIO4All, but I am not sure.

So, for it's price and quality is amazing tool for achieving unique guitar tone. I cannot recommend it enough. But if you are searching for professional tool for making amazing sound-production I believe you can find something more suitable for you.

B
OK but IK Multimedia strips down most of its features
BillK 26.04.2018
I purchased this in order to use it in stand alone mode (not with a PC/DAW and I was dissapointed!
IK Multimedia offers for "free" its amplitube app for (in my case) my iPad but very quickly, I found out that the "free" version is quite limited and to unlock its full functionality you need to pay extra in buying more effects or other functionality (extend multitrack recording etc)
In terms of build, I would say that its a very nice design built with very cheap plastic! By the way, mine could be used as a shaker (for free!) as I found out that if i shake it, there are loose "things" inside that make weird rattling noises.
I wouldn't try IK Multimedia again...

A quick and easy tool
Niels2526 28.04.2019
I use the iRig to quickly hook an interface up to my computer to get some okay tones. It is nice to have access to the full Amplitube software when buying this interface, but you still have to buy the really nice effects/amps in Amplitube if you want stellar sounds. The device itself has a rather flimsy feel to it, but you can't expect a high quality casing for this price. I find it a very useful tool to quickly record ideas on the go but for more advanced studio recordings I would definitely go for a more professional and sturdy interface.

An expensive piece of plastic
Lordy 04.08.2019
Bought as a birthday present for my son. Upon connecting we noticed that the volume pot was very difficult to turn. Then we noticed that the volume pot had no end, that is to say that it turned endlessly because it was broken. We were able to get it to work but could not adjust the output anymore. The amp sims are not bad and I don't think that the price is bad for what you get but the build is definitely questionable. We're going to give it another change. We will return the product and buy the same again, hopefully with a better outcome.

M
iRig HD-2
MartenH 20.02.2020
Very simple: I could not do without it anymore. Using it with IOS and Mac devices using some of the extra software is a bit of a challenge when Apple throws out software updates. My experience is that the Amplitube on Mac and IOS works very good and the iRig HD-2 of course works with other software like Ultimate Guitar, Tonebridge and Garageband VERY well. It helps me increase my playing time a lot because it is so easy to crash on the couch, pick up a guitar and noodle along. I have no experience with other devices like this but am impressed with this one. I replaced an older model iRig with it.

Great device! High-quality sound!
brunibeats 05.07.2022
The device works very well. The sound is high-quality. I use it with my iPhone 12 pro for which a cable is included. I use it to record my dj sets via phone. This way I do not have to manually edit the video and add a separately recorded audio on top of it. This way all background noise is left out of the audio recording. Both video and audio are nicely recorded together. There is no delay between audio and video. The build quality of the device can maybe be improved, but so far no real issues with that.

Great interface for you iOs device
Coen Bijpost 26.05.2020
I’ve used interfaces from IK Multimedia since I started playing guitar on my mobile phone. I’ve had the IRig, the IRig HD and now the IRig HD2. All fabulous for their time. IK Multimedia always goes along with the newest technological advances and, to me, is the leader when it comes to mobile guitar music. Their Amplitube app is great, but this product integrates seemlessly with any music app I’ve tried it with. This new version fixes the problem with the missing headphone plug on the iphone. And it also makes it easy to go through the IRig to the amp. The preamp has been improved with much more headroom and better sound. Highly recommended even for owners of the IRig HD.
