At First when I was comparing specs of Jackson JL Kelly I thought it features less for more money than my Solar AB1.6FRCAR. And yes, we do not have stainless steel frets but other than that, Kelly is much more comfortable guitar with huge sound. I didn't expect so much difference in neck feel and pickups output. Shape of Kelly may look a bit clumsy but it's actually way more comfortable for fast galloping than Superstrats.
Guitar setup was pretty good out of the box. I see no finish flaws or similar things. -1 for quality as the pickup selector is not working for neck, you need to hold finger on selector to be able to hear neck pickup. This should not happen for guitar in this price range. But I will fix it my on my own, not a big deal.
Pickups are working surprisingly well on *clean channel* for fingerstyle but not as much for hard picking with palm mutes. For that purpose I would pick up my Solar.
Bridge pickup is extremely hot and for some reason i dig it. Guitar acts exactly how it looks like. Its chugging hard on my Rockerverb even without OD (sick).
Neck is superior, I find it even more comfortable than my Ibanez Wizard.
I hate matt finish guitars but this one looks great and I would like to see more Jacksons without pickup ugly frames and with similar potentiometer layouts. At least I am not making my guitar volume down and switch pickup by mistake. (Ibanez, please learn from this guitar how it should be done).
Overall I am really happy with my new Kelly!
