I prefer passive speaker due to I can use with different power amp I like. So far I use this with SMSL SA300 power amp with bluetooth feature then it works well with my ipad. it sounds nice especially mid range. Sound of guitar or saxophone...etc is pretty clear.
150W rating is big number for such small dimension speakers. I have not tried. but it is highly possible to be suitable in band rehearsal; PA in smaller field.
I've seen lack of bass issue from other reviews. It's true but I have method to improve it. It does lacks bass frequency especially sub-bass (frequency band around bass drum). if you also place it on desk or some plane rather than installing with wall mount, try spike stand. I get much stronger bass (the standard monitor speaker should have) after place 3 mobile ring stands between desk and speaker. Can't wait to try some real spike material ebony cone.

Good Install Speakers
Robert582 15.05.2013
These speakers were used as part of an A/V install for a primary school main hall. As an installer they are a great product as they areself contained. They come with brackets for wall mounting that make them really good value. The sound quality isn't spectacular (lacking in low end and treble is a touch brittle) but they sit well with other install speakers. They seem robust and having used these before they seem to hold up well in tough environments (band cafe and schools). The mounts need a lot of tightening for them to stay in place but once setup they stay put. A good install choice but not for the audiophile.

OK in bigger rooms
LukaB 02.02.2015
I have installed them in pretty big place (restaurant lobby), just to play some ambient music. Speakers are responsive, pretty loud for their size and you can't say anything against the sound for their cost. Later I have added a pair of Behringer Monitor 1Control (to hear the difference JBL/Behringer) and a small 10" sub to extend coverage and add a little sub when playing at lower volumes. They are small and need a little bit of help in bass reproduction in bigger places as mine. I think you can't go wrong with these speakers for their cost and they are really well made.
JBL Control 1 Pro offers terrific quality at an affordable price for professional or residential applications.
Best thing about those speaker is:
SonicGuard protection circuitry to prevent overloads
Ball and socket mounting bracket included for versatile positioning
