I am using it with bass and I must said I am very surprised.
With switch on fat there is no bottom lost. Mosfet distort highs and stock distort bottom.
You can get Darkglass an Rat like sounds from pedal for crazy low money.
Dont be discuraged by price and name and buy it.
I play with fingers and it doesnt effect distortion so it sounds like playing wiyh pick.

Almost perfect rodent pedal
Taikonaut 17.06.2024
Honestly, I'm baffled by the quality of this product at a given price point. It has a metal housing, can be powered by a 9V battery or a power supply and it has a fair amount of configurability, what else one could want from such pedal..
On the sound side it sounds pretty much identical to the Proco Rat 2 in the default configuration. I don't have any fat rats nearby to test so I cannot compare how this feels, but the original one is definitely more than close to this. All in all I would definitely buy that pedal again and recommend it to a friend.

Joyo at it again
Harper D. Belic 23.05.2022
If you are not caught up yet, Joyo names pedals in funny ways. The Splinter is a reference to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Master Splinter , a rat. This is a rat. Rat is not an arcane circuit and Joyo simply copies it. Is it 1:1? No. But unless you are Adam Jones of Tool playing a Super Bass over a 2x10, you will not notice the nuances.
For the price it is by far the best rat clone.

A famous circuit in an affordable box
Dudeguysapiensman 27.05.2022
Does it sound great? - yes.
Does it have a lot of switches and knobs - sure.
Does it sound like the rodent-type-pedal? - possibly, I never have owned 'the real thing', but why would I need to? This is a great pedal. Definately a must have. You can go from a cute lighty gain to a stonery sludgefest. And everything in between. There is a reason why a certain sunn o))) typed boutique pedal is based around a similar circuit... Or why every pedal channel recommends this. Love it.

Solid
AliSurfer 12.11.2023
I looked at many reviews of distortion/overdrive pedals before buying as I am new to electric guitar. This pedal has a solid build and gives great sound options. For the price this pedal is amazing - GO SPLINTER

A one stop shop from light distortion to full fuzz
Artie Fufkin 19.09.2023
It’s a really versatile pedal. You can do fat blues through to fizzy garage and on to full fuzz stoner doom. Very fun pedal and suitable for so many styles of music, really can’t go wrong. Seems like a solid build.
Stacks well with a big muff or SF300.
I only use it at bedroom levels, and to my ears, I can’t distinguish between the MOSFET and stock modes at all. Ahh well.

Two RAT-s for a price of 1/2!
Hrks 14.10.2024
You will play this one often, and that's what matters. Metallica tones, hard rock, heavy metal. Good for rhythm - great for solos! Well worth it!
