Great item for this price from thomann site.I did a ton of research about these mounts before I purchased one. I was hoping to find an audio sample of different mounting options but was unable to. The nice thing about the way it is designed is that it will allow you to decide how close you want to mount it to the batter head. I have a Tama Starclassic 22" bass drum which only has hardware screws near the batter head and the resonant head, there are no screws centered on the shell which reduces where you can place it, I placed mine with the Shu vertical and an AKG D112 mounted pointing directly at the beater but mounted to the screws closest to the resonant head. The sound is fantastic. You can EQ it to bring in some fundamental low frequencies and you will be golden.

Wonderfully Helpful
FilipH 16.06.2016
After you take a better part of an hour to set it up nicely your mic will stay put and devoid of vibration. The design is simple and yet allows for numerous different combinations. I've immediately tried three different mics and they all worked like a charm. Everything looks durable and elegant. Great stuff!

Fit and forget
Anonymous 28.05.2014
I love my Kelly Shu. Fitting takes some thought but once in place it stays there and performs wonderfully. My mic stays mounted on it permanently with a short XLR cable through the drums air vent to which I just connect a longer cable and off I go.
Great sound every time, no vibration and no more mic stand to get kicked over on stage.
Highly recommended

It should have every drummer!

Installing the unit took less than 15 minutes! The microphone is now fastened inside the bass drum!
Now there is no need to install additional stand. The microphone is always in the drum even when transoprtirovke! Very comfortably. I just can not imagine how I lived without it before!

Great piece of Kit

Permanent installation of the Bass drum mic feeding my Porter & Davies stool. Sound engineers love you as it's one less mic they need to put up!

Does the job

A bit fiddly to insta with the bungees. I used Loctite thread adhesive to prevent the microphone rotating, otherwise fine.

Essential!
Anonymous 02.04.2016
I bought this on recommendation when I added the Porter & Davies Gigster to my set up. The job of mounting an AKG D112 in my 22" kick drum sounded complicated but the instructions (and some help from YouTube) made installation a simple 5 minute job.
Two years and many gigs later, the mic is still firmly in place and the Kelly Shu allows me to get the very best performance from my Gigster. This is a brilliant piece of kit.

Excellent piece of equipment for the gigging drummer
IHitThings 08.02.2015
This seems like a lot of money for what it is but it is a well thought out and quality piece of gear. I liked it so much I bought two. Set your bass drum mic inside the drum and leave it there between gigs. Make sure you get the "Pro" version which has metal parts, rather than the slightly cheaper version with plastic threads.
