I bought 2 of these Eb clarinet stands, not because I'm a clarinet player but because I'm a trumpet player. I use one of them for my Schilke P5-4 piccolo trumpet and the second for my Selmer G Piccolo trumpet.
I previously had 2 K&M 3 legged clarinet stands for my piccolo trumpets but when I saw these 5 legged K&M stands I thought that I must try them as the 5 legs should make the trumpets more stable and safe.
The extra legs do make the stand more stable although I have to be honest and say that if anyone kicks the trumpet with any strength then it would probably fall over, but to be fair that would be true with any instrument stand and any instrument.
The stand has a felt covering where the trumpet sits but I'm always over cautious and also use a dusting cloth over the peg to give my trumpets extra protection from scratching. The stand folds down very small and is easy to transport.
In conclusion I would say that the safest place for your instrument would always be in its case but if you need to double on multi trumpets in concerts as I do then this stand is very well worth buying and owning.
