Feels heavier & sturdier than the photo!
Dr D 01.11.2019
I have a heavy RODE Procaster with shockmount plus TritonAudio Fethead and windshield attached, so I was concerned that a relatively short desktop stand with a not so big base circumference (180 cm or 6-inches) would suffice. Thankfully, I can report that this K&M mic stand is absolutely perfect. It is really quite heavy @ 2.5 Kg ( > 5 lbs) weight, thus can easily cope with more than a kilo of weight up top. In fact, when I grab the head of the mic whilst attached to this stand and try and pull it or tip it over, it just will not.
The other cool aspect of this particular mic stand, is the easily adjustable telescopic pole to adjust the height of the mic. Although it does not increase the overall height by that much, it is sufficient to get the mic up to head head whilst seated at a desk with this stand in front of you. It also secures very well and does not slip or move at all.
Finally, the circular rubber inlay on the rear side of the base, just feels quality - soft but does not allow the stand to slide at all. Even hitting the side of the base with my clenched fist does not move it.
I would highly recommend these K&M mic stands and the next time I shall be in the market for another one, I will look for this brand again.

Doubles as a battel hammer

Seriously, this thing is so sturdy, you can kill a guy with it. Has a rubber layer on the bottom which prevents it from sliding on top of a desk. RODE NT 1 fits perfectly on top of it. Can be used for recording instruments, but for recording conversations as well...and killing people (in which case RODE NT1 should be replace with Shure SM58, due to it's enhanced rigidness)

Nothing not to like.

Reassuringly heavy, thank god. You can extend it 15 cm (unlike the K&M 232BK) which is great. It has a sturdy rubber ring at the bottom to dampen vibrations. It feels rock solid and I will probably also use it for live music (with omni and cardiods) in small interior locations (on table, shelf or chair) when there is no room for mike stands. They won't fall over.

This is by far the sturdiest, heaviest and perhaps overengineered mic stand I have ever encountered. I ordered 3 and they arrived neatly packaged, with the base and stem in two parts. The stand is reminiscent of a barbell plate and is made from solid drop-cast steel that is up 2 inches thick in parts. The base alone weighs at least 2-3kgs making it more-than-capable of handling the heaviest of microphones. You will just need take care the surface you place it on is strong enough. Adding to the stability of the stand is a round rubber ring on the base that both removes the risk of slipping whilst protecting the surface it is placed on, so build quality is pretty much faultless and very impressive.

Installation is as simple as screwing in the stem into the plate, and then securing the microphone via the the thread at the top. I used my SHURE SM7B which is by no means a compact or light microphone, and i was please to find that the stem is tall enough to accommodate it with a FetHead amplifier and patch cable with ample room.
I am struggling to find faults with this mic stand - incredibly high quality, sturdy as can be and will probably outlive me. Fantastic job.

Does exactly what it's supposed to do
HeldenFurlong 06.07.2020
Fine, solid, and durable. The mic stand is perfect for when I'm teaching voice lessons. It holds the mic without problems and I've yet to hear any vibration come through when I've used it for quick recordings.
The only con is that you must make sure you have some material (cloth works best) to put between the base of the mic stand and the desk or table top as the anti-vibration material has a tendency to leave marks (especially on parquet flooring type surfaces). This warning is specified in the mic stand documents that come in the box.
Overall, it is very, very good.

Solid and well made
SJV0101 16.04.2020
This is my second desktop stand for a mic. The first cheap one from amazon works except the base is so small that a heavier mic or the addition of a shock mount would make it unstable. No such problems with this stand. It's excellent, wide and heavy base and a very easy mechanism to extend the height. The height is also very good, way more than I need. Well worth it.

Nice quality

I bought this for use with an SM57 mic.

This thing is heavy! It does not move at all when on my desktop table. The screw hole has uneven paint around its edges which looks like the item has been used before. I do not know if this is the case for all of these but that was the first thing that grabbed my attention. The locking mechanism for the stand is a bit mediocre. I do not like its implementation. If I try to open it, the whole arm would twist out with it from the base. You would need to grab the base to keep the whole thing twisting off. Could do with another way to tighten this,

When you have locked everything in place though it is rock solid. This thing will not tip over even if you bump it. All in all, pretty satisfied with it.

Great stand, easy to assemble, does not move around. The base is really heavy and has a rubber grip.
