I thought it was a full metal one, its 50% plastic
Good for the price and quality 18.06.2021
lower half is metal, the other half is plastic, good for lightweight. normal weight mics. the max weight they can carry is the weight of a kick mic. heavier than that, than you really need to fasten it real good. consider the investment

K
Usable, more or less
Kieran 05.11.2013
With half the boom arm to spare, it can support an SM57, but anymore and it will start dipping.

Getting the mic clip to sit tight on the screw is also a pain at times, as the weight of the mic can often "unscrew" the clip.

It's reasonably compact, and sturdy when set up right, but there's not much flexibility in terms of how you can set it up.

Fine, but if you can afford better, go with that.

Does the job
kraq 17.06.2020
Does its intended job but the quality is mediocre at best. Looks and feels a bit fragile, but for home use it is just about enough. For more serious work i would recommend something a bit more sturdy and solid.

C
Relatively happy.
CJSOUND 14.12.2016
I was initially very impressed with these stands.
I bought a few of them and put them through live and studio based applications.

They are heavy enough to not fall over, strong enough to cope with open transport.

My only real issue with them, is the fasteners are a bit small, for big fingers, one of the stands fasteners split very slightly, but just enough to go un-noticed until I cut myself on it.

Good stands for the price, but not sure for how long they would be used for, before I would need to replace them.

Ok for a short while.
Robert487 05.08.2019
I've learned over the years that a cheap mic stand just ain't going to last.
It's not badly built and looks nice but.
After a while mine started to wobble at the boom and pivot and tightening the mic just made the matter worse.
I'm a singing guitar player so i wasn't grabbing the mic and jumping around with it so it fails on ruggedness for me.

If it's getting use in the house then i see no problem, being loaded in and out of vans is going to be a challenge for this mic stand. It's not built to be used and abused so hence my OK rating.
Still good value for money but spend more to get something more bombproof.

C
Ok for recording/home use
Consettbaths 20.11.2017
This somehow got mixed in with the band's working gear, it didn't last long. Perfectly ok for home or studio use but not up to the rigors of life on the road. The Stephen Pastel of mic stands.

CK
Good for its price
Ceyhun K. 21.12.2016
I use this stand in my home-studio to record vocals and instruments. Very easy to attach a microphone clip and the cable of the mic can be clipped to the cable clip provided with the stand.

Pros & Cons

It does the job for its price. Its easy to mount, stable and easy to handle. The rotation of the boom is not that precise, but flexible enough to find a good poisistioning for recording vocals or instruments. I do not recommend using this stand during events or concerts as the boomscrews, attachements and handles can degrade if rotated too frequently. The loosening jeopardizes the roatation precision of the boom, which is not ideal when the microphone needs to be placed in a precise position.

Price

The price is fair and good for a static home-studio.

G
Fantastic Product - Lousy Delivery
Grace 02.06.2015
Can not fault the product, however, this item was delivered by parcel force and they really did a bad job this time. the parcel arrived with a gigantic hole punched through the top, luckily the SM58 Beta I had just bought was at the other end. The stand was dented, though is still fully functional. Just a shame that it arrived cosmetically damaged. I'm afriad the delivery just gets worse, the couriers failed to even knock on my door. I saw them walk up to the house and leave with my parcel, when I ran out of the door to ask them why they didn't knock, they were gone. They then continued to take my parcel not to my nearest depot, they took it three miles away. I unfortunately do not have a car so I had to call in a friend to help me transport the package back to my house, as re-delivery would have taken up to two weeks. Love Thomann but they need to use better courier services in my opinion!

A
Can't hold a mic at an angle
Akos 13.08.2020
Otherwise good, but if you want to have the arm at an angle (not straight up), you have to fasten it extra-extra hard using bear power and risking to break the thing. On the stage, it's outright embarrassing, which is why it ended up in the studio, with an extra ring that helps a bit, though not enough.

Not great for a heavy load
Aaron482 03.04.2016
The basic design is the same as the rest of their Microphone Stands which is a great design.

However the 'fibreglass reinforced plastic base' lets it down considerably. I can't get enough tension from the base locking screw for it to hold the upright shaft without slipping therefore all three legs plus the shaft are touching the floor so it isn't as stable as it could be.

That being said I am using it for the K&M metal music stands tops which are reasonably heavy, so if you only have a light item for it to hold like a condenser microphone or maybe an iPad holder, then it will do the job just fine.
