The best starter amplifier
flexksx 13.04.2020
I bought this amp to start practising electric guitar. The tones I was searching for were the angry-metal tone and some bright, "glass" clean tones. The bunch of effects and presets that the manufacturer assures is really decent, although you will not need the whole 100 of them. I loved the versatility of this amp, you can play blues, jass, get some light-rock tones and there are a lot of switches for you to choose from. In comparison to the MG series amp that I listened to at my friend, the CODE is obviously better at tones and the sound is cleaner and clearer.
I dealed with some problems in using the USB-recordin feature, because, first of all, the sound that is recording is different from that you are hearing when playing, and I also managed to accidentaly break the port.
Also, at the begining you may find it a challenge to understand what tones give you the amps and the cabinets and the power-amps and the whole lot of switches it has, but in an hour of messing up with them - you'll find what you need.
The bluetooth feature is usable and really useful, I used it multiple times to just listen to music, but it also allows you to play along a track or cover some songs while they're playing straightly from the amp. Also the Marshall Gateway app is very good as a remote-control for the amp, and with it you can hold 200 presets - a hundred on your phone and a hundred on the amp (but you will not need so much of them).
As a conclusion, I admit that this is THE BEST amp in this price category and may be the single one you would need for practise and is a decent one to play somewhere live, the sound is really good. Even if I didn't gave it at every point 5 stars, overall it truly deserves it.

n
A really nice choice for that price
nikolajeff 29.09.2020
I've been using Marshall Code 25 for a month. I've bought it for home use and I'm going to tell you what it is about.

Pros:
1. Overall the sound is good for a relatively low price. Since it is 25W amp, you can make it sound so loud that it will probably be possible to preform in front of a small audience of people. However, if you want a good amp for home use(as I wanted), you shouldn't be scared of the wattage. It is easy to set the volume so that it won't be heard from another room, even with high gain.

2. The divesity of sound you are able to get is also amazing - delay, reverb, distortion, overdrive, auto wah and so on, you can change every little detail about every setting.

3. The easiness to use. The interface and the buttons are really self-explanatory and I had no problems setting the sound I wanted. If it isn't convincing you, there's a good free app that you can connent via bluetooth to your amp and tweak every single setting that you need. The app is also extremely easy to use.

Cons:
1. It is sometimes hard to find a right volume setting spot to play really quietly.

2. The back panel of the amp was really hard to remove. I had to use a knife which damaged the corner a little bit.

Summary:
I didn't notice any major cons about this amp. However, some small flaws could be fixed in a short span of time.
I definetely can recommend Marshall Code 25 if you're looking for low to mid volume good quality sounding amp.

Overall, it's a great choice for that price range.
Recommended.

H
Great Modelling Amp
HaCan 26.03.2020
I use this product in my house, during practicing and recording. I am not a professional artist, so I only recorded backing tracks, etc. for my self. However, the quality of this amp is satisfying for me.

Pros:
- You get a lot of different options for pre-amp, amp, and cabinets.
- The options for the pedals are great. Modulation pedals sound neat since DSP and modulation techniques have evolved quite a lot.
- Super easy to connect to your mac or pc. After connecting it, you can edit every setting on your amp via the "live editor" feature.
- The online community provides great amp settings for different artists, songs and genres.
- The speaker is a decent Marshall speaker. Great sound.

Cons:
- The pre-fx pedals are the worst part of this amp. Especially chorus and distortion sound a bit odd.
- There are some known issues regarding the 'volume' knob. Sometimes, it is not linear. Sometimes it makes big jumps between different values when you are turning the knob.

The pros are a lot more than cons, I would definitely suggest this amp to anyone who wants to buy a decent amp for home practice, even recording for fun.

Great amp with USB audio interface, Linux compatible
Mz/x 16.07.2021
I use this amp for home practice and digital recording for 1.5 years now. I still like it very much.

Works out of the box, almost every preset sounds good and it's very easy to make them sound great. Works very well on Linux, too.

This amp has a MIDI interface for control messages (CC), but not for guitar pitch to MIDI note conversion. So it's not a full MIDI interface, but CCs might be useful for some people especially since the pots are nice. So actually you can use it as MIDI controller independently of the guitar amp function, which makes it even more versatile.

I have a Linux system, so in that world Jack/Ardour sees the audio and the MIDI control interfaces -> turn the pot, you see the event in the DAW. So it is not a virtual instrument, but it's OK for control.

You can record digital audio from the guitar and send audio from the computer to it at the same time (e.g. backing track). So you can use this as an external soundcard over USB, no need for an audio interface as long as you don't connect other analogue devices. The USB stream is 48 kHz/16 bits, but this is directly sampled, not through a mic, so clean. (CDs are 44.1 kHz, 16 bit). 48 kHz means your computer doesn't have to go crazy processing, either. All playback from your computer will be played along with your guitar on the amp straight away.

The amp is extremely versatile. It can do clean, but it can metal very well, too. Usable without the phone app, just by dialing things in on the amplifier interface, but the phone app is great, too. Works well with the analogue potentiometers of the guitar, too. Eg. crank up the volume in drive and you get more distortion, the way it should be. The headphone setting is great. The music input is either via Bluetooth, jack or USB. And it is loud. This is no ordinary HiFi-style 25 watt, as you'd expect.

By now the phone app has caught up with the quality of the amp, it's super intuitive.

In summary this is a true Marshall amp, but at the same time a high quality digital product, worth every penny. Take it out for a spin, you won't regret it.
