The perfect amplifier for garage rehearsals
__YoungBoy__ 04.10.2021
I bought an amplifier on September 16. The first thing I saw when I opened the box was the quality of the product, it's really cool. Plus, the amplifier itself is very beautiful, no one said this in the reviews, but I will say it. I like origin a lot more than dsl. All the handles of the potentiometers look laconic, they spin perfectly. I was pleased with the presence of an attenuator, for playing at home, this is the very thing. The only thing that upset me was the presence of only 1 channel, although this is not always a minus, for someone it is a tribute to the old fashion.
As for the sound, he is always on top, Marshall knows how to make a quality product. It sounds rocknroll, everything is in the spirit of the 70s. The amplifier is an excellent base for effects pedals and will suit any guitarist, even the sophisticated one. The amplifier mixes perfectly with the band, it's fun to play in the garage.
In general, it's amazing that Marshall released such a great playing amplifier for such little money. For a student, this is really good thing

Origin 20
Zen Monkey 27.11.2021
20 watts all tube Marshall, came with speaker cable and solid rugged footswitch. Easily loud enough for small gigs and sounds best in 20 watt mode for clean headroom and cranked in the 3 watt mode you can get a surprising amount of gain and bark out if this amp at full volume and gain. It's simple, one channel with a footswitch for boost and switching fx loop on and off. Nothing unnecessary, that's why I give the features five stars. It feels solid, looks great and sounds great either jamming with friends through a 4x12 or for quieter practice through a single 12”. Switching to lowest power you can get the volume down lower than the volume of your strings so it could work in an apartment/bedroom situation, for practice, but this thing is happier played loud and it thumps like a Marshall should and it does loud very well for 20 watts! I live in the countryside where I can turn it up but 20 is enough, the 50 watter would be overkill for me without an attenuator. Reverb, phase, tremolo and delay in the loop sounds great and it works brilliantly with every overdrive, fuzz or distortion pedal I've put in front of it. Sounds very close to Hendrix tones and Yellow Ledbetter never sounded so good! Whatever sound I'm after I can find it easily and what's strange for me is that being a pedal builder/fanatic I've been playing through just the amp alone for most of this week, it really sounds great either with a Strat or Les Paul and I'm very impressed. Buy it. You know you want to. It is awesome and you won't regret it. I love it and at €345 it really is a great value deal.

Classic Marshall sound
Rokb 23.03.2020
Great head with a classic Marshall "plexi" sound. Not a high gain amp, but if you are looking for classic marshall crunch, it sound amazing!
The only downside I found is that the amplifier can be slightly loud even on 0,5W if you want get power amp section overdrive without a pedals at low bedroom volume levels (I run it through 1x12 V30 speaker). But attenuator can fix that.
But otherwise, this is exactly what I was looking for; GREAT amp for AMAZING price.
No need to lose words, Thomann's service was as amazing as always, fast delivery and very well packed.

Warm and firm clean tones
Sean65 17.07.2019
Great amp. Very pleased. The power attenuation works well. It is a bright but warm amp and you have presence, treble and tilt to control the high frequencies.

I have found the amp sounds best with the boost on and the gain at about 2 o’clock. This produces a solid firm clean platform that responds well to boosts.

I run an EP Booster(always on), Boss DM2w, Boss RV6 and a JHS Black Box into the loop and hit the front end with an Xotic AC/RC Oz.

Quick delivery and well packed.

C
Great universal amp when using pedals
Cermo 27.02.2020
I play usualy at home or just jam with my brother on drums. 20W is really enough and at home I barely switch from Low to Mid Output value.
This amp is one channel, so ideal for pedal rig, as I use it. It is also very versatile. I can turn very nice and plesent sound like Jimi Hnedrix style, but when I want to play Metallica or any other heavier styles, I just engage my MXR Fullbore Metal pedal, and amp is going to beast mode. Great sound overal.
Previously I owened Orange Dark Terror amp, but it was not capable of nice mellow and bluesy style. There was very thin line between clean and distortion.
For this price, Origin head is one great universal amp.

Great sounding tube head . Classic plexi tones , built in power soak . Master volume.
The 20 w is loud enough for bedroom playing.
Dont get the 50 w unless you gig!
Solid amp . Only complaint is that it can get a bit fizzy at times but you can change that with the right tubes,

Great amp. Magic value for the money.
Alister 18.06.2024
Got one of these a couple of days ago, and I'm very, very impressed. You have to crank the gain and the master both past 3pm to get it to sing, but it does. I'm using it into a 1x12 with a Celestion G12H-100. I have a 30th Anniversary 100w Marshall and the Origin it does have a similar sound to the Plexi channel on that - but the Anni requires volumes that threaten the structural integrity of the house you're in. The Anni also weighs about 25Kg and is a bugger to lift, the Origin is much, much easier to transport. The power mode switch on the Origin allows you to crank it, but still play at loud bedroom levels. It's easily loud enough to play with a drummer.
The down sides? Well it's a bit of a one-trick pony. It does rock really well. A humbucker and AC/DC is it's natural territory. It'll do blues beautifully if you turn down the gain, or use a fuzz and it's Hendrix-y. Keep the fuzzface on & turn the volume right down for that smooth glassy sound, it's great too. You can stick a Tube Screamer in front of it for a bit of 80's hair metal, or a Big Muff for Dinosaur Jr. I haven't got trying really high gain stuff into it, it might work, not sure, but if you're into lots of headroom for clean country and western or clean jazz you'll probably struggle. But who on earth buys a plexi to play jazz??
It's one of the cheapest valve amps available in the UK and I love it to bits already. Wish I'd had it 30 years ago.

Great sounding marschall amp!
gooseffsake 01.05.2019
I've had this amp for a while now, and have it paired with this marschall cab : Marschall mg412bg.

The amp sounds lovely, if you're looking for classic marshall tones i'd recommend it personally.

I would also recommend to try it out yourself before buying tho, because the opinions on this amp vary wildly online.

The amp is great sounding but I would have loved to see some built in referb, but a good referb pedal goes a long way.

Overall though, love the amp!
