Very Good for What It Is
Anonymous 20.02.2017
This file does a good job and I'm pleased with it.

This makes an affordable alternative to a luthier's precision-ground fret-levelling beam, even if it is expensive compared to a regular file.

If you don't know what fret levelling is about, there are many tutorials online.

It's neither particularly long nor wide as tools for the job go, so you'll have to proceed carefully and check your progress as you go. Which you were surely going to do anyway, right?

It has a nice little bit of heft or weight to it, so that it can operate under its own weight - thereby contributing to even results.

It operates quite efficiently, so that the job will be done in just a few strokes.

In short, it's not the best tool out there that money can buy for the job, and it's not a cheap file, but for what it is, I'm very pleased with it.

Does the job but kinda short
Muffinman of Norway 18.09.2022
Done a few jobs with this one after initially being surprised of how small it is (note to self: read specs before buying). Works well on both nickel and stainless frets but definetely should have been longer to get a proper even levelling.

Fret file without the handle
SouledOut 03.04.2022
The fret file does its job, it files frets. It's good though I used it only once so I can't say how long it will last but so far it seems to be good. The problem is that it comes with the handle so I had to glue it to a piece of wood to act as a handle which makes one side unusable.
That's why I give it 4 stars because there is no handle.

Maxparts BF-AF16 Fret File
JJDan 21.07.2024
I bought this file so I could level my frets and fret ends.

So far I have used it on 2 of my guitars and I can say that for an amateur guitar tech this thing does the trick. A word of warning, be very careful with this file because it is sharp and will damage stuff if you force it. Smooth moves will do the trick. I have very sweaty hands, and acidic sweat that usually destroys non-coated strings. This thing has no signs of corrosion.

Would definitely recommend this product.

Effective fret file
cubusaddendum 21.04.2021
I've had to deal with less-than-perfectly leveled frets a few times in the last few years, and this file - along with a leveling tool and some polishing materials, is what you need to get them leveled (and get that guitar action lowered afterwards). The build quality is on par with some much more expensive files I have in my kit. The one thing that's not clear to me is how to attach the file to a handle or holder. Most files have a system - albeit crude - but this one escapes me. I've ended up holding it with a tea towel on occasion.

Makes short work of fret filing
A Buyer of Stuff 25.09.2023
This file will knock your frets right down with just a few gentle passes.

As others have noted, this is relatively 'short', but it's certainly workable for fret leveling if you keep a light touch and let it follow the frets on its own.

Great luthier tool

Great tool. Only wish if there was a handle for the tool available. But the file is great for leveling frets.
