When I purchased this guitar I never had heard of Maybach and was a little hesitant however the second the guitar arrived I was glad I ordered it. The maybach lester feels a little bit like a “best of” guitar where it doesn’t feel exactly like any specific model but it is very close to a lot of older vintage les Paul style guitars. Fitted with amber spirit of 59 pickups you get all the classic PAF goodness! The guitar is surprising light for a les Paul however I believe it’s not chambered and just good wood selection. The neck is very chunky like an old baseball bat think r8! I would put it up against any Gibson I have ever owned.
The guitar is very tastefully reliced with light finish crazing and realistic wear for a guitar of its age unlike some other heavier relics. The only complain I have for this guitar is the tuners and truss rod cover are ever so slightly wonky, however the guitar feels very hand built in a good way so this is minor.
Pros
- beautiful top
- tasteful relic
- great pickups
- beautiful case
- fantastic build quality and stability
Cons
- might be light for some les Paul fans
- slightly wonky tuner installation
- relic not for everyone and no options for non relic models
