At 14" this caixa has a larger hitting surface than its smaller 12" cousin, but this doesn't affect the sound. Indeed, I think it makes a nicer, fuller sound. The extra size makes little difference weight-wise, and the larger hitting surface allows for more tricks when playing. And the Meinl name should assure you of the build quality. If you're looking for a caixa then make sure this one is at least on your shortlist.
