P
Not for bass
Plick 11.06.2020
I wanted a simple stand for my guitars and I didn't want to break the bank with this, so I went after this Thomann product, as I trust the brand. For other prodcuts is great.

My surprise came when I started to use this stand indistinctly for solid electric guitar (standard weight), acoustic guitar and bass (heavy). After some days of normal to caring use at home I realise in the floor there were this bits of black plastic scattered, so I examined the bass. It was ok, but the stand was crumbling.

The plastic piece which keep the arms of the base together, where the hinge is, was completely cracked and the rubber piece which touches the instruments didn't fit anymore, so it just fell.

My solution came with duct tape all around the cracked piece, but I didn't expect that. So from now on I will only use it for non-heavy guitars (product is still usable but uglier and with duct tape as finish...) and the bass will rest in a more sturdy stand by another brand.

I'll go for a bit more expensive one next time just to guarantee the quality I need.

If you need something cheap for light weight guitars and delicate use, this is definetely your stand, lucky you.

But if you will use it for professional purposes, heavy instruments and continuous rough use, you must spend more money in a quality
and reliable stand.

k
Does its job very well

What can I say. It is an acoustic guitar stand that does exactly as it claims. I have also used it for a tenor sized ukulele, an electric tenor guitar, and now my bass is happily sitting in this stand. It is nice that it folds, but I have not really had any need for this feature yet. The two hooks the stand has, are soft and are covered with some sort of plastic foam. Overall, the stand seems to be of good quality.

If I had to say anything negative about this product, it would be the plastic covers around the feet, which do not seem to hold very well on a hard-floor surface.

This product serves its purpose; nothing more, nothing less.

Pros:
- It works as intended.
- Good price for what you get.

Cons:
- The feet might have poor grip depending on the surface this stand sits on.

G
Cheap 'n nasty

I own a previous version of this stand that I bought in 2009.

The new back is a few degrees more upright which makes the guitar stand more in the vertical, less leaning towards the back. This makes it far more likely for your instrument to topple over, especially as the stand "legs" also stand a wee closer together, making a narrower embrace around the bottom of the guitar and giving less side support.

I do not feel that I can entrust [any of] my guitar[s] to this wonky construction and will consign this new one straight to the recycling centre - for the sake of a fiver, it seems hardly worth the effort to return it to Thomann.

The only slight positive point is that at 774 grammes the new model GS-2001A is lighter 'n easier to carry than the old one which weighs in at 1250 gr. But that's academic, when you can't trust the stand to support your instrument.

For this price? Maybe...

I was using it for two years. After about a year of home usage it began to decay literally. Later, upper plastic cap finally fell to pieces. It's just transformed from stand to gymnast, because, if you try to put a guitar on it, it shows you a leg split 😁
If you want to use it for a few years, then you're about to change - buy it.
