UK customers, for your information, this unit arrives on a palette delivery and took 8 days in my case from date of despatch.
First thing I noticed- the panels and internal packaging were a little wet when unboxing mine! The outer box was dry...no idea what's going on there, but a quick wipedown and all was well...perhaps someone was packaging it in the rain, or maybe the fire sprinklers came on in the factory...?!
Tools - Hex key is included, you just need a screwdriver for some parts, that's it.
Height adjustable - this is a nice touch and should make it suitable for almost anyone. If you also have an office chair that is adjustable, even better, you should be able to find a setting somewhere in between them that works for you.
colour - mine wasn't so much cherry as a rich golden amber, which is actually quite lovely and looks much more expensive than it is, so that was a bonus in my book, but if you're fussy about your wood colours or want to match other cherry furniture, you might need to take that into consideration.
The light weight of the wood panels is really the only thing that gives away its budget status but once assembled, you can't tell anyway and the whole unit is absolutely rock solid, as strong as my previous Omnirax (which was worth about £800 back in 2008)
The assembly instructions are nice and clear, however the pictures flip in some sections between front and rear view. This caught me out and I put in the rack walls upside down initially! So look out for this, otherwise all perfectly well presented and neat
The 19" racks use the smaller screws that desks like this often use, rather than the larger type that standard 19" racks use, but hey they give you some in the box to get started (with washers!) and if you need more, you can take one of them to your local hardware store to match up more the same, so it's really not a problem.
Slidey shelf - Solid, nice smooth action and doesn't rattle from side to side like my old desk.
Perforated shelf - that perforated panel you see under the sliding shelf is actually a shelf where your external power supplies can sit, so they're not hanging in mid-air... such a thoughtful feature!
Another handy feature is the two headphone hooks on the sides, someone is really thinking about how a desk like this is used in the real world...how many times do you see headphones lying around with trailing wires looking messy on a desk like this, because there's nowhere else to put them?!
Conclusion : if the desk fits your criteria but you're suspicious of the price, don't be! Honestly I felt the same way, but decided to try it anyway based on the good reviews (plus it's not too much money if things went horribly wrong) but I'm very glad I went for it, it's brilliant.
Absolutely delighted with it and a total bargain
