These are loud, heavy hi-hats. Perfect for metal which is what I play, but if you're not looking for that maybe try something else. That said, if you're playing heavy music/need your hi-hat to be as loud as a large crash while its open, get these! They're very heavy duty too so no fear of cracking. They sound fine when closed too, though I suppose if you're playing funk or something that requires lots of intricate closed hi-hat work you might want a different sound.
