Solid VFM little monitors
Konstantinos A. 05.05.2024
After almost 20 years of use, one of my old Tascam VL-A5 monitors started cutting in and out and at this point any repair would probably cost too much considering their age, so I went for a replacement.

I am working mostly with live sound and these are used on my PC on a home studio setup in a moderately treated room.
They are a bit bass heavy in general, but it is quite manageable with the switch in the back (0, -2, -4 dB on the low end). If that's not enough, then you probably need to treat your room at least a bit, because even the best speaker will not make up for bad acoustics.
Compared to the sound I got used to over the years from my Tascams (who had essentially a low cut around 80Hz, very light on the bass and I always had to check mixes on other speakers) there's a ton more bass which is kind of impressive for such a small speaker and allows me to get a much better picture of the low end. They lose a hint of clarity in the mids (I'd say around the 1-2kHz area), but again, the knob in the back compensated for that with a small boost. I would prefer it if the knob had notches so I could be precise about the adjustment on both speakers, but it's not the end of the world...

So feature-wise, they give you many options, which is great at this price range since they are very budget friendly and are probably going to be used in spaces that aren't ideal.

I've only had them for about a month so I can't talk about reliability, but they look solid as quality goes.

All in all, at the 222 euros I got them I would say they are great VFM little monitors and unless you are mixing VERY bass heavy stuff they give you enough info on the lows to make decisions upon in my opinion, without needing a sub.

I'm In Love With These E5s
Black-Viper75 28.02.2023
These are my first studio monitors. I did a lot of research into monitors within my budget (up to €500 for a pair) and decided on the E5's. I preferred the flatness that these offer vs the newer XT model which are a bit more bass heavy and expensive. I found the E5s easy to calibrate using the Presonus video instructions on YouTube and an app I downloaded on my phone. The high, mid and low cut adjustments on the back with a flat switch help to fine tune their output sound. It should be noted thatthe E5s have the most controls on them compared to all other studio monitors in the same class and price range. Once calibrated, I tested them out. They are very responsive and clear sounding. I hear little to no white noise. They have surprisingly great low end response which I wasn’t expecting. I use the E5s with my Boss GX-100, ToneX and Amplitube 5 and my guitar tones sound INCREDIBLE. I cannot believe how much better these tones sound compared to my Audio-Technica ATH-40 headphones. I’ve also been using the E5s for mixing and mastering without them giving me any ear fatigue. Even just listening to music through these is such a satisfying experience. Another important factor to me personally is looks and believe me the E5s look very sexy. It is safe to say I am beyond pleased with my purchase. I believe there are no other studio monitors at this price point that provide this type of quality and accurate results at this price point range.

Low pride and height quality studio monitors.
max_shulz 14.01.2020
Advantages: Perfect price/quality ratio. Wide possibilities for adjusting to the size of the room and the location of monitors in the space. The middle does not fail, and the low frequencies are enough to tune the bass sounds. The small size allows you to use them even in home studios. Fully justifies the stated characteristics. The metal grid in front of the tweeter allows you to hear high frequencies honestly, without clicking where they are not.
Disadvantages:
What upset me a little at first is the low-frequency speaker is smaller than the claimed 5.25 inches. Of course, judging by the size of the diffuser (which turned out to be 4.5 inches), the speaker, along with its mount, will just be 5.25 inches in diameter, but this spoiled my first impression. After checking all the stated frequencies were confirmed and about the size of the diffuser, I stopped thinking.
The midrange controller on the back panel, in my opinion, manages not the most successful range. I needed to lower the middle quite a bit, taking into account the peculiarities of my room, but along with the" extra " frequencies, some of the high ones were gone. I had to put it in the original position and take into account the small "middle" of the sound.
Comment: Despite the shortcomings, I really liked this model of monitors. The ability to adjust to the room - this is the biggest plus of all Presonus monitors. This particular model I recommend to those who are just starting to engage in sound engineering. But personally, I do not intend to say goodbye to them in the future, as the monitors of the near field, they showed themselves very well. Finally, given the customization options, they can also be used as household speakers, if necessary.

Unbeatable 5-inchers
Heeplv 23.02.2022
These 5-inch monitors are surprisingly good, especially, considering the price tag. I'm not an expert, and had no chance to compare them with a lot of other models, but I heard Fluid Audio F5 and KRK RP8-4 near them.

So, my conclusion is:
- Eris provides very detailed, linear mids and high freqs, compared to both above mentioned monitors;
- The bass is a bit "boxy", but it is linear enough to do a proper monitoring;
- Overall sound quality is high, sound is comfortable for long sessions, and not colored in any manner, especially in acoustically treated environment, where I use them;
- Build quality, connectivity and tonal adjustment options are great.

Subjectively, in comparison to Erises, the sound of Fluids is a bit more harsh with more midrange, but KRKs are providing much deeper and cleaner bass, with a bit warmer midrange.

I also highly appreciate covering of tweeters with a reliable metal mesh.

This is worth so much more than what it costs.
M.M.O 06.10.2022
The sound quality coming out of these speakers is amazing for how much they cost. Presonus is definitely killing it with these budget but high quality speakers. They are full of features, the room correction the frequency adjustments all included for a modest sum.
I owned the Erie 3.5 before and already they were mind-blowing, these are several steps up.
I am really thinking about pairing them with the subwoofer either temblor or Sub8. If you have a small room at home you use as a B studio, these are more than enough and you will be surprised how much work you can get done on these paired with a software eq analyser.
Warmly recommend.

Brilliant all-rounder
BRT 11.12.2020
I am using these monitors for production of music demos. They sound fantastic in a small room which really isn't very well acoustically treated. The front facing bass ports really just rid you of a world of pain, especially when you're short on space. Versatile EQ settings on the back too.

Some may be put off by the lesser known brand name, but this company are the real deal, fantastic build quality (the cone material is kevlar, so very hard waring) and sound for the price. Knocks the socks of my old Mackie CR3s when A-Bing.

3-Year Long Term review - still amazing!!1
MarioRud 16.06.2023
I have had these since early 2020 and have never had a single problem with them.

They sound just as crisp and clean as the very first time I listened to them. They offer a very flat but accurate sound and have minimal hiss when not playing anything through them.

The lower frequencies were not enough for my desire so I paired them with a PreSonus Temblor T8 subwoofer (now discontinued) and have created the perfect balance for my intended use (dance music production and everyday casual use). The lower frequency response on the Eris E5's without a subwoofer is decent, but as someone who enjoys a bit more punch in the low end, a sub was necessary (Although I only have the sub on about 5% power as it is a monster! Just a little power from it fits nicely along the E5's sound output and doesn't drown out the other frequencies)

They do not have a standby mode so I keep them plugged into the power source but turn them off from the back of the speaker every night and have had no problems technically with either monitor.

Overall they are stellar monitors and I definitely recommend even for just casual listening to music - you will not be disappointed!

Great value
Óran 20.05.2022
These speakers are fantastic for the price I paid. Better to buy these and build some treatment for your room than to drop many more times the price on a pair of genelecs or something like that with no room treatment. Whatever you buy, treat your room or what you buy will sound lacklustre

No.1

For this price are the best monitors in the world. I've had M audio and Yamaha HS5 before them and I can say that Presonus definitely did a very good job. The fact that the air duct is in the front is an advantage when you use a small room and position them close to the wall. Great overall quality and surprisingly good bass for a 5'' speakers.

Very good speakers
OutOfBoxLab 08.11.2024
I bought these speakers to use for video editing purposes and as office speakers and casual entertainment. They work great. I like the sound profile and build quality. Of course this is not a top premium product but it serves the purpose very well
