I upgraded to the 1824C, having used a basic Presonus audio interface for 5 years, as my skills around Studio One have increased and my requirements are increasing as my knowledge improves. I use the interface in my home studio to produce radio/cd quality music and the fact that it used the same DAW & software and the fact that unlike a lot of the rackmount products, did not bust the bank!
The first impression is that 1824c is a quality product, solidly built and with great basic features. I don’t need 8 inputs as I generally record in stereo, so only use 2 at a time but, the others are there if required in future to record more instruments at the same time. Right out of the box it slotted into my rack & was up and running immediately as I have a Presonus user account so log in, register the product & you are all set!
The only advice I would give is that when you upgrade from Studio One, finish current projects/songs before upgrading as even though it is “compatible”, there are issues which will have you tearing your hair out! Presonus Studio is not exactly intuitive but you figure it out and even though there are copious online manuals, learning by doing will be the route most will take!
So great product but be prepared for some messing around at the outset, mainly due to software/ system issues!
Thanks to the Thomann guys who cleared up a couple of questions I had prior to placing the order, which arrived in a couple of days, so great service as usual.
