I've tried a couple of the Fire Grain sets now, and found that you have to get used to the feel of the fired wood as it's not quite as porous in the hands as regular hickory. Once you're used to that and adjust your grip accordingly in the heat of a busy session, the difference between the Forward and Rebound is noticeable. I was getting wrist pains with the Forward sticks but a slightly heavier sound, but I felt much more comfortable with the Rebound model, playing faster without fighting the sticks - and without having to step down to lighter 7A sticks on more complex rock drumming where the stick power is needed inbetween those tricky fills. Definitely a keeper for me, even though the price is a little high. Still not broken a set yet, despite heavy rimshots on most full snare hits....
