This came with a fine smear of solder reaching from ground to the core wire on one of the end-pieces. This became an issue only after 9 months of use. So I had paranoia for a week.
Opened up the plugs cut away the plastic sleeve and cleaned up all the mess. And there was a lot of it in all the plugs. Uncaptured hairs not cut to length, cable shielding flapping all over the place and the red and transparent core wired to the wrong plug colors (bit OCD, but still).
The plastic sleeves where heat-shrink sleeves which apparently did not see any heat (in this unfortunate case actually a plus). So ... safe to say a third of the assembly process was missing and an other third was done by someone totally careless. I did not had to use my soldering iron .. so .. woohoo, I guess.
The reason why we pay this much money for a cable is the careful, precise assembly and quality check. This had neither. I wouldn't mind it so much, mistakes can happen, but this was an obvious reject for anyone with a single eye.
