It's ok for Ebony fretboard

Honestly not exactly the best cleaner out there, as I haven't noticed that it's much better than some other products out there, but get's the job done. You still have to apply the pressure for cleaning, depending how much girt you have on your frets ... That being said, what I've noticed is that it does a very good job at hydrating the wood after use.

After using it on my Ebony fretboard, I can see that small cracks in wood disappear 15-20 minutes later after usage, which is always a good sign. Depending on usage etc, fretboard stays hydrated and clean for quite some time. I usually change the strings and do a cleaning every 3 months.

I would recommend it, but don't expect some magic rainbows out of it. It all depends on how you're treating your instrument and how clean are you.

for years I would give the fretboards on my guitars a quick spray with furniture polish whenever I changed the strings, job done, no disasters.
I'd just bought a high quality classical guitar and the fretboard looked a bit dry, bought a bottle of this and gave it a go, looked a lot healthier straight away, definitely a big improvement on furniture polish, smells nice too, you only meed a few drops, so a bottle this size will last you forever

Stinky stuff
Anonymous 28.03.2015
I bought this product because of the PRS brand aura (which, generally speaking, I find well justified). But my expectations about this conditioner have not been met.

The 3 stars that I gave to the cleaning efficiency and protection are purely theoretical. There is really no way to judge with any perfection as to how well it cleans the fretboard and protects it, the more so that fretboards on my guitars are all in a decent condition. So I'm just assuming that the conditioner does what it is supposed to do.

What does seem to be a problem is the unpleasant smell the conditioner has. I even wrote to the PRS, asking what was the composition of the thing (a quick, polite but effectively meaningless reply followed). Let me put it this way: the conditioner has a strong chemical smell that reminds me of a WC cleaner.

I didn't give it a "Very Poor" rating simply because I still believe in its functionality and out of respect towards PRS. Otherwise, should it have been supplied under a different brand, I would have definitely given it the lower rating possible.

After this unlucky experiment, I just got back to the trusty Dunlop guitar cosmetics with that nice lemon scent. Period.
