I get through a lot of strings and like pure nickel. . .
Glenn2701 05.09.2017
I've been playing 40 years , part time and professionally , and have more than 15 but less than 20 stage and studio guitars , playing mainly classic rock , pop , and funky soul.

I didn't really have any strong views on strings , and have used Ernie Ball super Slinky, and d'addario xl , for many years and up until about 2 years ago was using GHS Boomers.
My string choices were dictated largely through multi-pack offers on my preferred gauges- I do however very much prefer the sound and feel of new strings, so get through quite a lot.

About 2 years ago I bought a new Fender Jazzmaster AVRI , and the retailer sweetened the deal with half a dozen packs of Fender pure nickel , the Jazzmaster sounded fantastic , and I quite liked the feel , tension and sound . . . When I put them on a couple of my Les Paul's , I really really liked the sound. . . And the wound string tension. . . Bends seemed easier , tuning and intonation seemed improved , bizarre given that both these guitars have Bigsbys . . . and I became a pure nickel convert.

Browsing some forums , I saw some rave reviews of pyramid nickels, and despite being a long time serious player I'd never heard of the brand !

For the last year I've been using these ,
Buying them 10 sets at a time , they are substantially cheaper than the fenders , .. and if you've never tried pure nickels - and like the sound and feel of new strings I would urge you to give these strings a go - if you get on with them , you'll save yourself a lot of money over time vs the well known brands !

Excellent quality strings, sound nice, bright and crisp, keep thier tone for a long time, and haven't broken one yet. Also excellent value for money ordering from Thomann. These strings cost over twice as much per set in the UK, so buying from Thomann, even with shipping still cost less than they do here, and better still, they still work out cheaper than the other premium brands available here.

Good value, .009 string is not very durable...
Mangleman 11.02.2018
Snapped 2 .009's whilst stringing up and stretching them. Ernie Ball are stronger and better but twice the price... You pays your money, you take your choice.

They do the job.

So far so good. I'm fortunate in that strings tend to last a long time for me (light touch and non-corrosive skin oils I guess). I mainly used D'Addario strings when I was gigging but being retired now and owning a dozen guitars I've been trying cheaper strings. I tried a few budget brands and found them dull and they seemed to lose integrity pretty quick so I went back to D'Addario. Got a few sets of these to top up an order for free shipping and so far....several months now...they seem pretty good. Worth trying, I think.

EB
Great for those other guitars
Edgar Blackdagger 07.08.2020
These strings have good sound, intonation and tuning stability,
the sound of those pure nickel ones is nice and smooth but retaining presence because of the thick winds around the core of the string.
This ups the treble and pick attack but also ups the left hand finger noise and they feel a bit sticky, like stainless steel strings.

For the price they are fantastic, I use them to always have fresh strings on my studio guitars but for my favorite guitar I still use Dunlops.

Pyramid 9 pure Nickel
Waldorino 16.05.2020
After trying other brands and receiving "new" strings that were corroded i have gone back to where i started . Pyramids are a really good quality string . The b is a 12 Gauge , i would prefer an 11 , but you get used to it . I only stopped using these because they were difficult to get hold of in the UK ( until i found Thomann) .

My standard set for a while
NevermindMe 28.12.2022
I have user these strings on a Strat and recommended them to other Strat players as well. What I see as a win on this set, and some other 9s' sets from Pyramid, is the .012 instead of .011 for the B string. A lot of times the .011 has felt wonky for me, but not with this set. I have experienced similar standard in these strings (consistent size, quality, wrapping) out of the box as I have with D'Addario. The only set I have used after this one is again Pyramid, this time Nickel Classics, again with the .012 on the B string.

Lovely strings
Anonymous 17.02.2017
I use these strings as backup solution on my LP and Strat. I used to play Ernie Ball and sometimes D'Addario, but as soon as I tried Pyramid I decided to stick with them. These -the blue package- have a great virtue above other Pyramids: price. I mean, they cost nothing. But honestly I prefer other Pyramid models which cost way more. So these ones are my splendid spare wheel.

Sound: nice, balanced, classic. Very versatile, nice sustain, good intonation as well. In a scale in which 0 is dark and 10 is bright these end up like 4.
Good for rock, blues, nothing too extreme on both sides (not the best for jazz, absolutely not good for metal stuff).

Quality: When you open the blue package you don't feel that luxury thrill you could experience with other brands. The outfit is spartan, straight to the point. The strings are not sealed, they're just placed into the paper envelope. Anyway, the durability and reliability of the strings is really good, better than lots of other very popular strings.

Overall Rating: try these strings, for God's sake.

Swings and roundabouts
Tangled up in blues 05.10.2023
First and most importantly, these are good strings at a very competitive price. When it comes to the makeup of the set, though, it's a case of swings and roundabouts.
I've always found the presence of an 11-gauge B string in a standard set of nines a bit odd, in that it doesn't give balanced tension across the plain strings. Pyramid fix that by substituting a 12. They also deviate from the standard mix, however, by substituting a 22 gauge D string for the more usual 24, which makes it a bit slack compared to the neighbouring A string.
You pays your money and you takes your choice...

Amazing value
Zeka 22.04.2020
I wanted to try these as I've read some good comments, and they are good deal cheaper than other brands.
Didn't expect much but I love them. Great sound, and they seem to be holding up really well. I had them on for a week now, still good as new.

Ordered 3 packs, I'll probably order 10 next time :)
