some say non original parts are of a lesser quality. I can't hear the difference at all, and the actual work of replacing was simple, the part fits well, works well, The only test left is longevity and I can't say for another 5 years or so.

Flawed masterpiece

I'd been thinking a while about getting these replacements for the original JBL diaphragms on a pair of 2416s, the high freq units on some classic 80s studio monitors, the Urei 809s. There had been some very positive postings on the Lansing Heritage forum about these Radians - why I waited so long, and what put me off was the total unavailability of the C-1225 back cap, which is needed for several JBL drivers, including mine. In the end I decided to go ahead and make whatever was necessary to make them work. So the diaphragms arrived and I was able to take measurements and make some perspex backs. This took me most of an afternoon, and I needed:
A vernier
Engineers dividers
A drillstand
A bandsaw with a metal blade
A fretsaw
Files and knives.
Perspex
Superglue
I also had to make a gasket out stiff card.
This was a complete PITA to do, but did work well first time.
On the plus side, the Radians weren't just good, they were transformative - the rough and sometimes spitty and strained quality of the Uries metamorphosed into something big, clear, delicate when necessary and capable of credibly resolving room ambience in 3d. Really excellent sound quality post the Radian installation - blind you would have said they were a different speaker.
So sound and value for money - I'd give them five and a half stars if I could.
Unavailability of the necessary backs - sucks. I'm deducting one and a half stars from a notional five and a half.
