Great for practice and room gigs.
mnoach 07.01.2022
I have equipped my rather large drum kit (4 SD, 4 TT, 3 FT, 1BD) with Remo SilentStroke heads as I practice in my living room and I also enjoy a good relationship with my neighbours. I also have Zildjian Low Volume cymbals (20" ride, 18" Crash Ride, 18" China, 16" Crash, 14" HH and 10" Splash), they match with the Remo heads as if they were developed together.
The SilentStrokes have a different sound than other heads, mainly because the reso heads are more audible. Tuning is different as well, for the same reason. The feel depends on tension, as with any head. It takes little or no time to get used to these heads, they do respond to different sticks, mallets and brushes. If you want to use brushes, go for nylon, as steel will penetrate the mesh, and will hamper your playing. I have played a few room concerts with unamplified acoustic guitars (amongst other instruments), vocals without microphone... It's a different approach to concerts, I like this very much. Recording requires rethinking mic setup and compression parameters, but it works.
If you need to play softly, but want a real drum sound and feel, this is the way to go!

Remo silent stroke 8 head
Anonymous 16.12.2016
Fantastic product from Remo.
I purchased this to convert my Alesis DM10 pro kit into a mesh head kit due to the noise of the standard Mylar heads.
These have fantastic feel and really do reduce stage sound of the kit massively, also with the remo logo they look fantastic too.
These are highly recommended, the only con would be that the bass drum beater felts do wear faster on these heads so an additional falam patch may be required.

Used a couple of these to replace the remo mesh heads that came with my electronic kit after a good few years of use - made a big difference and came at a good price.

An absolute must for home practicing
Pavol D 09.11.2023
I use these on my electronic kit with sensors. I like how quiet these are for single ply mesh they can take some hitting. he only thing I do not like is that they are a lot more bouncy than the mylar (regular) drum heads.

Good for e kits
urba898 08.01.2025
I bought this head for my eletronic kit. It does a very good job. It's quiet, durable and has a very good feel. I would only recomend it for e kits since i doubt it would perform good on a acoustic kit in terms of sound. Would buy again if i needed it for my e kit.
