I love Remo products, I only use Remo drum heads for that matter. Having seen many videos on YouTube of kit tours, it was extremely common to see the CS Dot being used. From Chad Smith to Teddy Campbell, a variety of drummers vouch for this snare head. However, do not be expecting this drum head to be able to cope well with ringing or overtones. With that black dot underneath I expected the head to partially mute or control any ringing. But, unfortunately, I found that ringing was still an issue. This of course may be due to my tuning technique (we're all different and have different approaches to tuning of course). I found that using a Powerstroke 77, or strangely enough a clear CS Dot coped with muting any ringing or overtones.
With that being said, this snare head is extremely durable. I haven't had to replace it due to wear and tear since I purchased it. I can see this head being used for live work and touring. It is also rather reliable with keeping it's tuning. Some heads don't seem to be able to withstand a tuning for a majority of time, this however seems to do the job quite well.
Get this head if you do a lot of live work! But consider other options if you hate ringing snares.
