Put one of these on my Sonor force 10" and 14" toms. Kit is basswood.
Admittedly, I bought these for the colour, as well as wanting to try something new.
Overall, I wasn't too impressed.

The sound is very... plastic-y. Even when tuned a little higher, had a little too much attack, not enough body in the sound at all. Switched to regular clear emperors and things are sounding much better.

They look great, and are very durable. But tonally, they didn't suit me.
