High Performance Without the High Cost
Soliloquy 05.09.2024
I’ve had the pleasure of using the Remo Encore 20" Ambassador Ebony BD Bass Drum Head, and I must say, it has exceeded my expectations. Although this drum head is manufactured in China, it maintains the high-quality standards that Remo is known for, thanks to the use of the same Mylar film as their USA-made counterparts.

I’ve used this drum head both as a batter head and a resonant head, and it performs exceptionally well in both roles. Whether you’re aiming for a low or high tuning, the Remo Encore tunes effortlessly and consistently delivers a great sound.

Having experience with both Remo heads made in the USA and various cheaper brands, I can confidently say that the Remo Encore series offers a fantastic balance between quality and affordability. While it is indeed a genuine Remo product, the price is significantly lower, making it an excellent investment for drummers looking to upgrade from budget drum heads without breaking the bank.

If you’re considering buying cheap drum heads, I highly recommend spending a little extra to get the Remo Encore. The improvement in sound quality is well worth the investment.

Ooh, shiney.

Bought for a 20" edrum kick as the 'white' Ambassador I bought from Thomann recently was a fugly cream colour that didn't look right on my kit. This black version is a lovely deep shade and smooth to a mirror finish that looks ace.

Tone is not important to me of course, but for those thinking of putting this on an acoustic kick then you should know that this is way more resonant and tuneful than the white coated version (which has a fairly solid but papery thud to it).

My edrums look loads better for this one, and being opaque it completely hides all the electronics and dampening in the drum from the audience. Perfect for my needs.
