This is always an essential purchase for my kick drums. Great for extending the durability of your kick drum head (it should really last forever with one of these!)
I've considered other brands but the Evans version is nothing more than a piece of plastic that doesn't seem to do anything to inscrease durability. I'm intrigued by the various "click pads" with the metal disc inside, but have heard stories of them tearing to shreds after a while. The Remo's on the other hand seem indestructable and add a nice beater attack to your kick sound. And the double size makes sure that there's no way a drummer can miss this and damage your head!
This one does seem to be a bit thinner than the last one I bought a few years ago. Not sure if this is just a different thickness that Remo have available (I remember having a few in different colours of varying thicknesses)
The only thing to watch out for, when initially fitting this to the head make absolutely sure that it's on right. If you don't have it stuck on properly from the get go then no amount of superglue etc will help!
Overall absolutely recommended. Pair this with a clear Powerstroke 3 and you'll be all set for a modern rock/metal kick sound!

Improved feel on e-drums
Exci 07.08.2019
Before using this patch the rebound on my electronic kick drum (Roland KD-85) was a bit too much. I'm now using this with a felt beater and it feels closer to hitting a real kick drum.
If you buy this for e-drums keep in mind it DOES make your hits louder so if acoustic noise is a concern then this might not be the best idea for you.
If you want to test it make sure you keep the back cover before placing it on your mesh head (just tape it somehow for testing), since the adhesive material is really strong. If you stick this patch on a mesh head, you probably cannot remove it without damaging the head - not a big deal, just something to keep in mind. I'm perfectly happy with it myself!

Quick & easy setup
Gabieler 04.04.2020
Open the packaging, pull it out and slap it onto your kick head - easy as that. A must-have when using double bass! Protects your drum head and doesn't alter the sound (at least I didn't notice). Fast shipping, no issues whatsoever.

can't ask for more than that. i like the extra attack up front that this gives my kick. i play pretty hard, so protection is a must, and this makes my kick head feel so much sturdier.

Slam pad
Anonymous 16.06.2014
Acts similarly to the old premier black rings - definitely adds a little to the impact sound, whether soft or hard headed pedals. Gives you bass skin extra protection.
Believe me, having to put duct tape on your base drum during a gig is not cool!!!
- my double foot pedal went through circa 1979 - never since as I always use extra protection!
Worth the cost.

Not the sound I was looking for...
Anonymous 02.03.2015
Being a metalhead I am generally after quite a clicky bass drum sound. I should probably have shopped around a little as although the Falam Slam pad is well made and adheres well to the skin, it gives more of a slap then a click (dependant on beater anyway).
This may seem like nitpicking but the sound has to be right! Either way, it definitely extended the life of my bass drum skin compared to using nothing at all.
