I have used for hand held interviews with short shotgun mikes
On the plus side it is well made and a good introductory grip.
It has no shock mounting built in so it takes the mike out of your hand but a fair bit of care is still required.
What it is great for however is as a supplementary shock-mounting system for the camera mounted shotguns which have some built -in mounting. I refer to the Rode videomic, videomic pro, go etc.
It's not a magic bullet for shockmounting but is really useful when combined with a shock-mounted mike.
