These are a great expression pedal. I have two, and use them to control a Strymon Timeline and BigSky respectively, and they work very well. The one issue that I would note is that the pedal sweep isn't linear, but seems to have a logarithmic sweep in my experience. This isn't much of a hindrance in terms of its functionality for me, but is something to be aware of. I note that my experience is in contrast to that of some other reviewers, so your experience may vary.

The pedal is made of plastic, which is a statement that would often strike fear into gigging guitarists with heavy feet. However, this plastic is very strong and sturdy, and has stood up to a good amount of use with no signs of wear, or cracks. All in all, I have found them to be very hard-wearing, and so the plastic shouldn't be a turn-off.

The cable is hard-wired to the pedal, which is handy so long as it is long enough for your purposes. I have had mine on a pedalboard for some time now, but from memory the cable is about 1m long.

Fine pedal, not so straight foreward setup
Pbassist 27.02.2024
Bought this to use for volume (organ swell) and expression for my Roland Vr-730 keyboard, and find it a very usable addition. At first, it does take some time to get the pedal setup correctly to fully work. But once you've got it working it works great. Its has a nice and 'heavy' feel to it, so you can make some really precice adjustments. Really cool for your organ swell, but also for some effects. It must be said, though, that (mine at least) only works with the Roland. I've also tried it to work on a Yamaha keyboard, but that doesn't seem to work. Something to keep in mind if you are searching for a more 'general' pedal.

works as expected (softstep 2)
Anonymous 17.07.2015
I got this expression pedal to use with my softstep 2 midi-controller mostly to control the volume of my guitar setup (software amps).
It works great, as the "sweep" is very linear (steadily increases from 0-100) and allows quite precise & predictable volume control.
I also own a moog ep-3 which also works well with the softstep, but the sweep is different - the value increases faster closer to the max position, so not very linear (this works well for wah and other such effects)

Build quality is also excellent and the pedal is very light - and the rubber feet keep it very steady so I don't have to worry about it sliding all over the place.
Warmly recommended.

Pedal works smoothly, I use it for volume, organ rotor, and or synth effects with Nord Stage EX.
Excellent job from Roland!

Does the job! Simple, good quality, durable and cheap!
Aengus 20.08.2013
This pedal does the job! Simple and effective.
The taper seems to be pretty desirable, quite even from low to high.
The minimum volume knob works well, and with the amount of angle between foot-up and foot-down, you can control your parameter pretty accurately. It's also comfortable to use while stading or sitting down, which is a plus for me. Some pedals have an excessively wide angle which is uncomfortable, but not this pedal!
Good quality for the really affordable price.

This pedal also seems to be quite durable. I've had it for some time now and it has given me no problems. I have only used it with guitar so I can't say how it is with other instruments like keyboards, but I am happy with it so far.

Solid pedal

I bought this pedal for my boss katana. You can plug it either in the amp, or the gafc footswitch which I have as well. It works as a master volume controller, or a wah pedal when you turn on that effect. The pedal is light and made of plastic so maybe not the best option for people with heavy feet.

Good companion for Boss BR-800
Anonymous 17.06.2016
I bought this pedal to use it with my Boss BR-800 multi-recorder. Its main purpose is to drive the wah effect, which it does quite nicely (the effect itself is produced by the BR-800 unit, of course, so the pedal cannot be used as a stand alone wah effect). It can also serve to manage the volume of the guitar input.

The pedal is made of plastic, but it is nonetheless quite sturdy. I'm quite satisfied with the quality. There is really nothing that I could possibly criticize, maybe except the fact that the pedal does not have a proper operation manual that would describe the function of the knob at the side of the pedal and suggest some recommended settings.

Nice, albeit slightly overpriced product.

Good quality, sturdy build, smooth movement.

Really useful add-on for my Roland synth, can assign different functions to it and then both hands are busy, it is good to do something with your foot.

Mixed feelings
Anonymous 07.04.2016
Ok the most important thing here is that I bought this to use with a Moog MF Drive pedal. Now, they say it's compatible, but really it is not. The sweep is at a wrong position. After trying to mod it (and failing) I have figured I have to adjust the internal 10k pot (not the min volume one) and set the max output to a lower position. This is simply because of how my guitar and the EV5 works with the MF Drive.

Otherwise, yes, it's cheap plastic but works. Time will tell for how long. I chose it also because of the size. I have a small board 20cm wide, and this fits perfectly. Every alternative is a good 5-10cm longer.
