This is the most expensive ligature I have ever bought, and I feel like I have been taught an import lesson. Namely: just because something costs lot, it isn't necessarily value for money.
I bought the tenor saxophone model for all types of mouthpiece materials, and used it with a hand-made RPC hard rubber mouthpiece. I have tried it with a variety of reeds: Vandoren Blue; Vandoren Jazz, Rico Jazz Select 2S and 2M and Vandoren Green.
In each case, the sound is light (airy) and unsubstantial. It appears to lack depth a weight and can get very squeaky and "duck-like" in the upper octaves.
It's also very inconsistent. I frequently have to take off the ligature and re-adjust the reed position on the mouthpiece before I can get clear sound at all.
I followed the instructions and kept the ligature tightened on the mouthpiece overnight and it still made no real difference.
I have gone back to using the basic Rovner cloth ligature that I was hoping to improve on with this one - and find the sound altogether more satisfying and consistent.
