Rovner Dark 1RL Alto Saxophone

Rovner ligs are by far my favourite ligature for almost all my mouthpieces. I find the make response and articulation easy and make the sound much warmer and easier to listen to. Give them a try. So many people use them and it's for a good reason!

I think the Rovner Dark ligature may appeal more to inexperienced players but less so as you progress with your playing. It does provide support to help give you a fuller, more solid tone, which is helpful when you first start to play. However, as you progress, you start to notice that it muffles the tone of the instrument a little and you eventually get to the point where you don't need support to get a fuller sound and realise that your saxophone sounds better without it.

I had originally used the standard ligature (metal) which came with my sax, but the new Rovner along with a new Legere studio reed has stopped many of my squeaks and should help improve my progress on the alto sax. The ligature is a bit tricky to place correctly with the reed and I suspect the material will become more flexible after an initail break in period. I am happy with my purchase.

I originally got this ligature when getting my first decent mouthpiece for my alto saxophone. I wanted a simpler ligature with less moving parts. My previous ligature had two screws, which was way too many in my opinion. This ligature has only one screw, and it does a perfect job in keeping your reed in place, which, arguably, is the most important job of the ligature.

What else can I say? It is a quality piece of gear, and will beat any "stock" ligatures that come as an afterthought alongside your mouthpiece or saxophone purchase.

Have read about this ligature and it was exact what I thought it should be! Seams to be in a great quality and easy to handle! The tone with a legere reed 2,5 and Selmer mouthpiece was the perfect match! In fact the best ligature I’ve ever had!

Easy to used. Feels solid. I think it works better than full metals ones.

One screw and softness of the sound are definitely the two pluses of the model. However I am not always sure if it can do its job right: that is, to hold the reed in place. For important gigs i prefer more standard 2-screw ligatures

My old ligature broke, that's why I bought this one.
I am very content with its performance. It's very easy to handle and guarantees your reed staying in place for several hours.

I've been enjoying my time with this ligature as it has been a very nice upgrade to the basic metal ligature that I used to use. It holds the reed very well and is cheap for the quality and comfort.
