I found the review on youtube, where this one is compared as a boom mic for voice application. And it was compared with Rode NT-1 and sound was pretty the same, so I was intrigued.

Now, after checking this mic out I can confirm, that it has a nice hypercardioid pick up and good to be used as a head-over mic up to 20-30 cm height or even higher, depending on the room treatment, which is good for streammers and those, who doesn't want to eat the mic all the time.

But here is one issue with low frequencies. This mic is very easy to go with an proximity effect and very fast it becomes overboosted in lows if the speak closer. Moreover, the extremelly high sensitivity to plosives, which can not be fixed with any pop-filer, makes it only possible to be used over the head. The only right way to use it for speach is to put it a bit higher, but this may depends on how bassy is your voice. In the other way it has a smooth frequency range, the same as NT-1 and I confirm - it picks up the voice just perfect as it was expected.

There is no high-pass filter also, but to cut low frequencies is not such a big deal in post. I've also purchased the shock mount t.bone SSM 5 and the windscreen t.bone WS50 - they suit this mic perfectly.

SUPER WIDE SOUNDING MIC
elnegros 10.12.2020
I use these as DRUM OVERHEAD mic on my drums in my bedroom home studio.

I have recently began to record my drums, and this is the first time I am buying and using those kind of mic. First impression, I was overwhelmed by the wideness of the sound it captures. Never thought these little mics could be so impressive.

I have been recording my drums in my bedroom for almost a year now, with little space, I have been able to experiment with different mic placement, and never had and issue with them.

I also use them in live situation, and I would say that they are build strong. I hit one of them once , like really hard, and no issues so far. hahaHA...

Pros
I like the fact that it is very easy to instal and use. Generally these mics are fragile and you should be vigilant so as to avoid damage.
As far as I have been using them, they make me feel comfortable like no matter what they would do the job. Sometimes the engineer would forget to switch fantom power off on the mixer before plug in it.That happened more than once, and no issues so far

Cons

sometimes it can be a little agressive in the high end, but that's solved with a low pass filter.

Overall, It is a good mic for beginners to begin with, take their time to understand these type of mics and experiment. I recommend for studio and live setting.

After 58's and 57's, these are nearly always in my mic case as a very versatile mic that can be thrown at a range of instruments. Sturdily constructed and none of them has never let me down over the years, great quality sound you can rely on anything from use with choirs or overheads on drums and percussion. Great gain before feedback.

Having tried out a few other mics at this price point I purchased the E614
specifically for recording hi-hats,delighted with the results, very directional and clean and doesn't let too much nearby snare bleed in, nice size for positioning too.
