Versatile low budget microphone
Anonymous 07.02.2015
I was in search of good vocal mic for my band?s female vocalist and came accidentally to Sennheiser products. In comparison with similar products like Shure SM58 or AKG D5 I came up with conclusion that this could be better mic of choice for that specific case. It brings more articulated highs and clarity which is really important for mezzo soprano and soprano vocals. It helps vocals be on top of band without interacting with guitars. it is very important for example in case of singing in metal or rock band.
Another terrific option is feedback reduction. I?ve never seen so good results with that with other mics. If you stand next to floor monitors, it makes complete silence and no feedback. Moreover even if you cupping microphone which not allowed in terms of physics it shows great result - no feedback is found. Used this microphone to record live and home without using headphones but room monitors at pretty loud volume. The result was awesome - low level of background band and qualitative recording of vocals.
Feedback and surround noise reduction is major point of this microphone in my opinion that makes E845 be one step ahead from other mics. It is worth noting that other products of this line (like E825 and E835) has same good feedback reduction and frequency response characteristics since they has same main capsule inside, as far as I understood it,, however they are a bit less present than E845. I think Sennheiser E845 is worth its money and is great alternative to Shure SM58 despite the fact that Shure has made a world standard dynamic microphone. Oh, and there is almost no proximity effect! GREAT mic!

Great sound

The Sennheiser suits my voice better just because is not as "middle-rangy" as the Shure SM58 for instance.

The sound haves more body, texture and more bass (but without being muddy) comparing to the industry standard SM58.

Great sound and serves its purpose perfectly.

Perfect microphone for live performance
Mich M 04.11.2021
Bought a pair of these to use for vocals during live performances and in our rehearsal studio.

We're a pretty large band with drums, bass, two guitars, brass, keyboards... So things tend to get pretty loud pretty quickly and we were having feedback issue.

The supecardioid pattern on these and the great sound rejection from the sides and back made a huge difference, they sound great, don't need to be pushed as much as your typical SM58, sound rejection is much much better and it just sound way better.

AWESOME MIC-SHURE REPLACEMENT
Anonymous 05.07.2016
I have always owned sm58s & Beta 58s. Both fantastic mics, but have to say, this mic does beat the 2 hands down.

I love the pattern on mic. Handles noise bleed well on noise stages/tight places.

The look is always superior over the shure line.

Possibly one of my best buys in a long time. Highly recommend.

Great Microphone.

Easily comparable to the SM58, with a different response of course. Worthwhile having a couple of these in the case for when a bit of variety is required.
Works well with deep male vocals.

Supercardioid for the stage
howardjworf@aol.com 16.04.2023
Gigging covers band, small to medium venues. I'm not a fan of the market leader microphone (just personal preference, our lead singer uses one) and I hate feedback so the pickup pattern of this microphone is just what I need. I have other Sennheiser microphones, they sound good to me, are well made and utterly reliable. What a pity that they only come with a fabric case - my spare Behringers came with super plastic hard cases. That really is the only quibble. In short, excellent live performance microphone that will reliably last you for years.

There are better, but you pay a lot more for them
Anonymous 05.02.2016
This is a very good quality, great sounding microphone that doesn't cost an arm and a leg.
For me, it is my go to microphone. Forget the SM58, yes it's good and works with most things, but it's getting old and you can hear it, I feel it's over rated now. The Sennheiser e845 sounds better and costs less. No brainier really between the two.
