I am making my own DIY guitar and I chose this pickup for the neck position in order to replicate that classic stratocaster neck sound. The tone is excellent. I would recommend that pickup as well as Seymour Duncan as a brand. All the pickups from that brand I have purchased so far are lovely.

Never bought a seymour duncan that I wasnt happy with.
These are sort of raw, as are the ssl-1s. Theres not so much of The "swirl" of say a 70s pickup, or a fender cs-69.
More robust strat tone.

Good classic vintage Stratocaster sound
wgen 10.11.2016
I bought a couple of these Duncan pickups when I was searching for some really vintage vibe, cassic glassy tone for my Stratocaster. These will deliver! They have pristine highs and great harmonics, if you really need all that treble I think that these pickups definitely have that. Good if you are willing to play vintage styles or if you want the real sounds of the Strats of yesteryear
