Pickup for Guitar

The "quarter-pounder" (the name actually comes from the quarter-inch large flat pole pieces) already comes with an extra dose of power. Having almost twice the output power of a conventional Tele pickups ensures a rich, fleshy, distorted and yet clear sound with any amp and no additional devices.

Nice tele neck sound

I don't use the neck pickup a lot, but this pickup covers all the sounds I expect it to. It's easy to install, even for people with minimal wiring skills. I paired this with the matching bridge pickup for a nice modern tele sound, which can still reach into those classic tele tones.

'installed this pickup in my Mexican tele as I found the stock one a little too middly for my tastes. This pickup was easy to install as per all SD pickups by following the simple wiring diagram that comes with the pickup. Some of the fixing items such as the spacers may not suite all installations and you may need to mix-and-match with the parts you remove as I did to get the best installation against the pick-guard. Once in thought the sound is great and provides quite a chunky rhythm sound with broader range than the stock pickup. This is a simple upgrade if you are not prepared to go for that fatter humbucker Keef mod .

Hot neck pickup
LooneyLoo 22.03.2021
I bought a quarter pound bridge pickup ages a go for my tele and I was using the stock neck pickup. The bridge pickup (quarter pound) was much higher output and louder than the neck, and a little more scoop sounding and did not really match. Having both quarter pounds in my tele definitely fixed the issues. Nice pickup overall a little on the dark side though.

Very impressive neck pickup
Alexi89 06.05.2014
I installed this pickup with a dimarzio chopper T in the bridge and the pair sound great together.

This SD pickup in particular sounds great. It provides a very full and warm sound without sounding muddy. It is great for both rhythm and lead as the thick sound can go great with slight overdrive to get a bluesy tone.

I read other reviews about this pup comparing it with a humbuckers. I disagree, although it is a very full sounding pickup (and great for hard rock for those of you interested) it is very much a single coil tone - and it is awesome.

Both clean and with overdrive, this pickup has a range of sounds, both have clarity and dynamics. Definitely upgrade to this pickup if you want to add more tone and voice to your tele in the neck position!
