Shadow SH951 Double Bass Pickup

This pickup has a very high output for being a piezo. It works like a charm with or without a preamp (Yes, You can put it straight to your amp if the need should arise). It still sounds like a piezo pickup, though. This is not a bad thing, but you have to realize that it wont reproduce the full acoustic sound of your bass (wich is impossible for a piezo pickup anyway).

The best part is that it is extremely durable: I have tried several more expensive high-end pickups that have broken down in months whereas this one works every time.

I bought this to use on a double bass. The only problem I had was securing it tight enough on the bridge for it to work properly (in the end I made a custom clamp). The output is high enough to use it plugged straight into an amp or PA but it's much better through an active DI box.

too much low mid boost and it creates huskiness.

For it's price, very good, been using it for 2 years now. Provides a "basic good" signal but don't have any greater expectations. In a couple of months it started having signal problems, but I never returned it, I solve most of my problems with duct tape..

Easy to fit and does it's job perfectly .

I'm using this pickup as a backup solution for my doublebass. The sound is good, but not the best. Lack of low ranges.
The 6.3 jack connector is a joke, better to change it to a good one just before you start to use it.

For the price this is a steal
