Not the best sound, useability or durability
Anonymous 26.02.2016
I got one of these to use in an acoustic duo, used it for a couple of gigs and found it's sound difficult to mix / use because of it's resonant frequencies (very mid orientated and not much oomph in the bass) and ability to pickup the sound of footsteps from people moving about near to it. An eq and a noise gate later and things were slightly more manageable, but it never really gave the sound or performance quality I was looking for / would expect from something of this ilk. Other issues I had with it were it's ability to slip around on almost any surface and the pad section coming unstuck from the wood. Battery drain wasn't a problem and the build of the wooden box was pretty sturdy, but sadly, these positives were not enough for me to continue using it and it went to a new home.

Stomp Away!!
Anonymous 25.07.2016
I bought this to add a percussive element to my guitar playing, without having anything too distracting.

Overall, it does what it says absolutely fine. Seems to be built solidly - saying that, as a product designed literally to be stomped on, I would certainly expect it to be!! However, I'm not the heaviest user of it, so those gigging with it may test it's strength out more than I do.

You really do have to give it a good kick to get some sounds out of it though. I was running it through as an auxiliary input into my main amp, and even with the volume high on the channel I wasn't getting much thump. I then plugged it into a separate amplifier (my old practice amp) into the main input, and increased the gain, which made it more sensitive. Problem solved.

Difficult to review the sound really - you want a good thump, and once your amp is set up right, it does give one. No qualms there.

Overall a good purchase, and something a little different. Quite expensive for what it is, but as long as it lasts, I don't think it's a bad investment.

Good value
LoïcM 11.07.2013
Quite expensive I have to say, for what it does, but it is really good quality.

First, the aspect is quite good. It looks strong and you are not scared of breaking it while using it. The sound is precise and quite good, of course mainly in low frequencies, but it is what we need with that. It reacts each time you touch it, so you don't need to kick it too heavily.

It is quite heavy and stable, so it won't move too much while you are using it (still, find a way to maintain it).

It is delivered in a protection package that is quite useful.

The best one I tried.

GH
Superb affordable percussion

I've had this stomp box for half a year now, I have played a bunch of gigs with this. I play in a bluegrass and blues duo and we don't want a drummer. This handy stomp box has become essential to us now. It sounds and looks great, it's also really easy to bring as it comes with a case and the battery seems to run forever. Another good thing is that it really sounds different depending on what kind of shoes you wear or how you stomp.

On the downside, however, it's pretty slippery on stage and you can't connect a power supply to it, not that you need to, but I was worried for the battery drain at first. It's almost a bit too sensitive as well, but you'll get used to how it works best and then you won't be getting any unwanted sounds.

I strongly recommend this!

Ok once heavily EQed
Patrick1329 24.02.2015
I've used this stomp box for several years now. It's build is sturdy, and the battery lasts for a long time without replacing. The little carry case is very nice indeed. However, the dry sound has almost no bass, but I found that if you tape a small cloth to the top and EQ the hell out of it, you can get it to sound half decent. Just don't expect it to sound like a kick drum. There are also other problems with the design and quality. Although the material is meant to be non-slip, I've found that it slips on almost all surfaces except carpet. I use an old mouse matt underneath to give grip and this works fine. Also, this material has come away and I've had to glue it back several times.

O
Highly recommended.

The shadow stompbox does what it's meant to and it's real easy on your foot mainly because of the extra footpad. If you are on a carpet it does not stay in place though. The direct sound is as good as a rhythm stompbox gets, I however use it with a Finhol autostomp converter and that just takes this stompbox to the next level. - Oliver Sean www.oliversean.com

Great, almost perfect
Anonymous 18.11.2014
It looks great, and seems very rigid, small soft case is a great feature. I use it on acoustic gigs(one acoustic guitar and vocals). Only problem is that you should EQ it a bit, because it has more high notes that I would prefer(I would like something more like a bass drum). For blues it's perfect, for pop you should be more gentle and try to hit it with your heel instead of toes.

Exactly What I Was Looking For
Anonymous 01.05.2016
This sound is exactly what I was looking for! I play as part of a duo and we play a lot of acoustic gigs and I was looking to add a bass drum to give the set a bit more energy. I would recommend this stomper!

Only negative, you will need to alter EQ through the system to make it sound more like a bass drum. Its not a big deal but worth pointing out.

Thomann excellent service as always!

Okay but no cigar
Anonymous 08.09.2014
This naphthalin-smelling stompbox is supposed to make your foot tapping sound like "blues stomp". You get quite near if you take your shoes off and only stomp on the edge of the box, otherwise you will get a nasty, clicking sound. Hard to mix.
