What a great case for the price! Yes, you can buy more rugged flight cases, the metal-reinforced ones, but for most people these are just too heavy to lug around, and, unless you have heavy handed roadies or constantly flying they're just a pain. Gigbags are ok, but offer no protection at all, and some of the cheaper "plastic" ones just seem to have the material become brittle after a few years and crack, pieces break off and the whole thing is only to be thrown away!
The SKB Route 66, however, has survived several years now without any breakup, giving excellent support to the instrument inside it.
It also has a small slim profile, so it doesn't take up loads of room when transporting it, has an ATA lock (required if you don't want Customs to "open" your locked case with a snips), and, if you have more than one of these cases, you can stack them one on top of the other and they lock onto each other via the special raised corners (sunken on the other side) that fit into each other.
Decent SKB quality too. What's not to like?
