I got back into guitar in 2011 after nearly 20 years.
I had an old strat back in the day, which I still love now, but when I got back into guitars I fancied something completely different, and bought a Modern Player Marauder.
These guitars were discontinued a long time ago but hold a good price. I found the neck pickup to be amazing.
I like to play a mix of clean and dirty through a Marshall DSL, and the neck pickup had just the right warmth and spice. I also have a 64 reissue Tele, which is great on the bridge pickup for punk and leads through the overdrive channel.
I always said to myself that if they ever bring out an offset body with a jazzamaster neck pickup and a tele bridge, I’d be all over it. Now they have!
Took about a week to get my amp settings just right, and this Offset Telecaster SJ is right there. It is just the sound I wanted.
I don’t think I need to make any pickup swaps or mods. I love it right out of the box.
If they had brought out a £2000 Fender one I still would have pounced but I can’t fault this, my first Squier. Definitely worth the money and I am sure it will go down as a classic.
