I have been using Stairville LED Par 56 cans for the last 12 years initially for a two piece group and for the last decade as a one man band. They were great, very affordable, but as I get older, a pain to lug around. The flat LED panel looked like a winner, but would they match the programming I've done with the Behringer LC2412 controller which drivges the lights via midi?
I called Thomann and they said they doubted it, but I decided to get one anyway to see for myself. The good news, they can be driven by the same controller without reprogramming every song, but making a 10 minute tweak ti the LC2412 setup. However, they are much brighter than the Par 56 and more focused.
Although I have no interest in using them as "standalone" fixtures, they have plenty of built in modes which I guess makes them pretty versatile depending on your needs. One way or another I am thrilled they are compatible with my existing setup and although they are just a little heavier than the Par 56 cans (.4 kg I think), they are much easier to pack and with the ability to daisy chain power, no need for too many plug boards to make them work.
I'll be buying at least three more in the coming weeks and will be looking for a new use for my good old LED Par 56 cans, maybe for uplights?
