I don't know why I spent years buying industry standard mics. This little mic, for the price, simply cannot go wrong. It's plastic, so I'm not sure it'd withstand too many errand hits, but really, it's quite fine for the purpose of mic'ing toms and snares. I have two toms I'm using these for, and seriously, a little corrective EQ, and it's absolutely fine for the vast majority of us home studio guys. You'd have to be pretty picky to want to spend 4 times the price on a mic that will maybe sound 10% better. What is the point... Cheap doesn't mean bad, not in this day and age!

Can't go cheaper, so what can we really expect...
Dirty Five Given 22.10.2020
This is the lowest you can go when buying a mic, so having any expectations of it other than it would generally pick up the frequencies in roughly the range it was advertised as, is too much.
It works. It's built cheaply. It can record your drums, but you're definitely gonna have a harder time mixing them, than if you used something more classy than this.
I still recommend it, because there's a lot of possible uses for very cheap microphones - eg. I use this one to record band practice.

Good mic!
JW92 27.01.2021
Purchased for recording snare drum. In my opinion the sound is Okay, but it does not compare to a 57!

the clip system is a little unsecure for my liking. The mic now gets used for other instruments, it no longer lives on the drum Kit.

For the price i would recommend the BD200 in its place.

Great startup mics
Stephane4242 04.09.2018
Honestly there's nothing wrong here. Solid build quality, clamp is practical and solid. The sound is good overall. You know it's not a high quality mic but it captures the sound accurately without fuss. It's actually very clear. I find the clamp + mic on a 10" tom take a lot of space and you really need to carefully place it or accurately hit your tom because you'll end up hitting the mic with your stick.
Other than this for ¤25, if you do home recording and want to record your toms, there's no risk here and a surprising good enough quality.

Does the job

No fuss, basic drum mics. Sound is fine. The price and convenience means they’re pretty unbeatable for pub gigs.

Great mic for the money...
SoulWorks 25.05.2019
Sure, you'll get a better drum mic if you pay more. But I reckon the t.bone CD 55 is plenty good for most applications. It's well constructed, attaches firmly to the drum and should last a long time. We've only used the ones we own a few times for recording, but we're pleased with the sound.

Great Value
Richard900 14.06.2013
I've used a number of these over the years. They work and the clamp fits a lot of situations but not every one! They're not as good as the sennheiser but at the price you can't go wrong.

Nice price
Anonymous 16.12.2016
It does work fine for my purposes. I'm using it on my 12'' tom in the practice room and the sound is ok for listening what you play, maybe a little lack of lows presents, but with EQ it's fine. It's nice, that the rim mount is included, which can by applied on cajon too. Nice price!
