Works surprisingly well
Roemans 16.01.2019
Pros:
-It really helps with having your mic focus on the sound you are trying to record without room reflections
-Cheap
-Feels sturdy
-Easy to attach and remove from a mic stand

Cons:
-The only slight con I have is that it is so small that it doesn't work well for higher mic's like the rode NT1-A for example (you can work around this problem by not sliding the foam all the way over the beam but than it easily falls of)

Conclusion:
For the price you cant go wrong. I will never record anything anymore without at least this micscreen behind it.

Doesn't really help sound
Befr 09.10.2020
It may reduce background noise, but the sonic effect of using this screen isn't just isolation, it sort of deadens the sound.
I am a pro musician who dabbles in home recording. I have put it in back of 58, and the effect isn't so significant as the dynamic mic has a decent amount of isolation regardless. But with large diaphragm condenser, it seems to kill some of the high end.

I purchased this to use in my home studio for voice over and podcast/radio show recording. It does a fantastic job keeping unwanted noise reflections out and cleans the sound up a lot overall. You can really hear a difference with and without it. I don't have any other acoustic treatment in the room i'm using it in and my recordings sound just fine. Its lightweight and portable. The quality is very good, was very surprised as i really was expecting a lot less.If you are on a low budget for a bit of kit to cut out ambient noise, this does the job.

Cheap and flexible
leohajder 20.03.2023
Can fit almost any scenario or configuration I could think of. It's extremely light and flexible so you can fit it in tight spaces. Works great to block the back side of an 8-pattern of my ribbon mic when closemicing guitar cabinets. I see no tearing or any damage after considerable use while being careful and storing it safely.

Simple but very effective (and inexpensive)
spookydirt 26.08.2020
This simple - and inexpensive - thing can make a huge difference to the sound of recordings, I use it on most things that aren't vocals (mostly acoustic guitar), and it gives more focused results with less extraneous noise and acoustic reflection.

Sometimes it goes on the boom arm of the mic stand behind the microphone, or if I'm using my portable Tascam recorder it just gets propped up behind it (and the Tascam on a cushion)

If I lost or broke this, I'd order another straight away.

Great for what it is
Jakob Dam 06.04.2023
Very easy to use - just push it onto the microphone holder. Try to get it as close to the back of the mic as possible for the best results.

Works fairly well in a room that's not sound treated at all; but definitely on the small side. I could use a bit larger - but for the price, it's pretty unbeatable.

It's also very light weight, which is great for mic stands that lack sturdiness.

Great emergency sollution!
Rygerlyd 16.12.2020
Not much to say other than it does what it should and is very flexible.
The only con I would say is that it is very "loose" and does not stay in place if there are vibrations. Overall great value for money!

A very handy acoustic tool
Mark8610 16.02.2016
The downside of using directional (cardioid) microphones is that sound picked up to the rear of the microphone is severely coloured. Obviously, the whole point of a directional microphone is that this sound is heavily attenuated by the design of the polar pattern, but anything that does get through will sound very unnatural.
When recording in a less-than-ideal acoustic environment a screen like this gives the ability to have a second line of defence against that unwanted unnatural sound. The microphone itself will still behave as intended, but spill and reflections can be managed. It is just a curved bit of foam with a slot in it, but it easily fits onto the XLR at the rear of hand-held style of microphone.
Well worth it's relatively small cost.

Perfect solution for the budget-minded
GSabby 09.01.2022
I can’t complain. I have a nicer sound shield setup on with my NT1-A for “professional” recording, it I use this for my MPM-1000 when I’m singing on Smule. For 15 bucks or so this thing is awesome!

Why Not
Playplay 21.12.2021
It's just a small piece of sound-absorbing foam. It's not that interesting.

But the shape is ideal for so many situations, and I'm very happy I got it.
In my experience, It works as it should and does block some reverberations.

Totally worth it!
