this shoestop does just that, it prevents your footwear from slipping against the chain; it’s a convenient accessory that unfortunately does not come stock with tama pedals ( at least it didn’t with my iron cobra ), also it has a fairly sturdy, rugged feel, so it should last for some time. I’m happy with this on my pedal, don’t see any disadvantages to it.

It's perfectly fitting, easy to mount on the pedal.
